Front bumper scratched from salt on highway

1 Attachment(s)
I had to drive home last wednesday all the way across PA in the snow and the salt and grime kicked up from the road and other cars just thrashed my front bumper. all the little white specs are scratches in the finish. any thoughts on the best and most affordable way to get this repaired?

Sorry to see that happen. The only fix for that amount of damage is to have the nose repainted by a qualified body shop.

Thanks and I figured so, any idea on how much it might cost?

:0 Jesus, my finish must be effed.

Yay for swp

SWP = Satin White Pearl

We can barely see any marks due to the white colour. :happyanim:

I ran into a lot of salt in the mountains of NC during my Thanksgiving trip, and let me tell you this, it's the best case for getting your car Opti-coated. I got mine coated a few weeks prior, and after it getting pelted with salt (AND A TREE BRANCH THAT BLEW INTO MY FRONT END ON THE HIGHWAY) I wiped it off with some Waterless Wash and it looks like nothing happened at all. I'm so happy I got the Opti-coat and avoided the carnage that happened to OP (sorry man).

Definitely going to get that done. I hope it's not too big of a deal to get it fixed

Turbo95eg6 11-30-2013 03:56 PM

Yikes. Wonder if a reputable detailer could clean that up?

nosi9frs 11-30-2013 04:00 PM

I'm going to try the dealer first and see if it can be covered, the other two cars I've owned have been in worse winter weather for years and nothing like that has ever happened to the finish

Have you tried washing the car yet? Your plastic fog light bezel still has tons of salt on it (unless you're saying that's permanent as well).

THIS is precisely why I opti-coated and got a full clear bra done.

That.is.BAD. They should replace the bumper or repaint it at no charge. Cars daily driven for 10yrs doesnt even have as much chips as your bumper from 1 drive.

nosi9frs 11-30-2013 04:41 PM

Yea took it to the best place I know and got it waxed as well, all of the white specs are chipped plastic. If you run your hand over the bumper and fog lights it feels abrasive like sand paper

Yea I know it's horrible. I bought the car 2 month ago and am going to claim faulty paint and try and get them to claim it under warranty. My old car was a 99 and looked better than that
