I hope someone from JPM Coachworks reads this post because I like your products. I have the shifter and brake boots, the console knee pads and the gauge cluster hood from them. I was going to buy the dash pieces at some point and when they were first advertised on their website the non-bonded version did not include the embroidery. There is absolutely no reason anyone should have to pay for a logo delete. JPM, you want free advertising and my money? Sorry guys that's your problem...

1) calm down
2) is this really the first time you've seen a brand put their logo on their product? You should be glad they even give you the option of taking it off. Do you have that option on many high end wheels? Tires? Brakes?

Ugh... totally agree. I mean, I almost didn't buy my car because Toyota went through and put wholes in the trunk and front bumper so that they could put their stupid company logo on that. I mean, for crap sake, they even molded the logo into the steering wheel! I still bought the car but you better believe I gave them an earful about their malign business practices. I guess if I really cared I should have bought a car from that one company that doesn't put their logo on their product... what was their name again? I just can't quite think of it... Oh well, it will come to me.

1) No:cry:
2)You mean like peeling a sticker off a wheel?
Tires need identification marking so that you know the size and what brand/model you are getting so that's an apples to oranges comparison at best.

I'm stating my opinion on this forum and also wanted to let them know They will continue to lose business because obviously I'm not the only one that is unhappy with their decision. Someone from JPM has commented several times so this would seem to be a pretty appropriate place to comment, No?

:laughabove: Yea, I've read all the earlier posts and know not everyone agrees with me on this. You are just as entitled to your opinion as I am Mr. Dylan...

You could always take one of the +5 HP stickers you were planning for your fenders and windows and stick it over the embroidery. That would be classy.

Well, that's one way of doing business, who cares about pissing off the math nerds. There are plenty of people who likes branded stuff on their cars, who cares for the car enthusiasts that actually keep their cars rather than the next cool car to slap some marking on.

I agree Dr. Nik. I am just saying that I think your opinion is inconsistent.

Well, let's assume that's true--that they are in fact losing some sales over it. Is that an issue at all? It would be fairly easy for a company to run a cost benefit analysis. My presumption would be their margin on the product is so slim it's a non-issue. They offer a discount for allowing their logo on the piece as marketing has a direct, measurable value. They are eating the cost in exchange. If it were me, I would have only offered the branded piece. The material and labor cost for the embroidery is probably a quarter--so the argument that it 'costs less' to produce, while technically true, is pedantic and borders on absurd.

Unfortunately, I fear a lot of good vendors will begin pulling out of our market. As a generality, we're really terrible to deal with. Sure, there's money to be made, but it's not worth the trouble in comparison to other vehicles out there.

I agree, we do sound like a bunch of whiny brats on this thread. But hey, that's what internet forums are for... I bet other vehicle forums have similar demographics of snotty customers :iono:. The real test is how the vendors respond to such criticism, and so far, I think the JPM Rep(s) is doing quite alright

Wow... just wow...

JPM is giving you guys a DISCOUNT ($65 to be correct) for having THEIR brand name on THEIR part.

Seriously guys, you guys should be THANKFUL that JPM is giving that option. Do you bitch & complain for having Sparco, Recaro, Corbeau seats having THEIR names stitched on to THEIR seats?

While at it complain to GReddy, Tomei, HKS, Perrin, Apexi & other exhaust, intake, parts weld/engrave THEIR brand names on THEIR items.

SirBrass 12-04-2013 03:22 AM

Chill, man. Most of us have been on JPM's side the whole thread.

That's not fooling anyone, since they increased the base price by $65 when they switched it from being a $65 surcharge for no logo to being a $65 discount for the logo. No change to pricing, just using a different set of words to describe it.

I don't like third party logos on my car, period. All of my wheels have Subaru center caps, and if I had aftermarket wheels, I'd either find Subaru caps that fit, or gotten blank caps with no logos. I don't put stickers on it, and I think they look stupid. The "Well, you put stickers from aftermarket parts companies anyway" argument doesn't really hold a lot of water for some people, especially the kind of people buying classy interior pieces. My car isn't a show car, nobody sees the interior but me and an occasional passenger. If they're willing to sell me it for $135 with a logo that costs them money to print, I don't understand why they can't sell it to me for the same price with no logo. I really don't see how having that logo on my car is worth $65 to them.

As a customer, I'd like to voice my agreement with the OP that this is a bad business practice, and point out that charging me a considerable price premium to not display their logo prominently in my interior (If it was $10 or $15, I'd be less upset, but charging a 50% markup is absurd) was a big turn-off for me, and was a deciding factor in me going with JDM black interior and kneepads from Amayama instead of JPM.

I really don't see what's so unreasonable about me posting the fact that a marketing gimmick has lost them a potential customer, as maybe hearing feedback from lost customers will help JPM make marketing decisions in the future. Hopefully someone is comparing the additional profits from charging the extra $65 for no-logo to the lost profits from people who would have bought it if the no-logo was the same price, as well as lost profits from other purchases that could have been made at the same time. I spent about $500 on JDM interior pieces from Amayama, and the two reasons I did that instead of purchasing from JPM were that the JPM dash cover was too expensive for the no-logo version and that the door kneepads weren't available in sim leather, only alcantara. Honestly, they seem like a stand-up company, but those issues were dealbreakers for me, and hopefully realizing that those resulted in potential customers going to another vendor might make JPM re-evaluate them.

You have spent about $500 on JDM interior pieces, but didn't want to spent extra $65? You call yourself "classy", why didn't you go custom? You just put yourself "JDM" all over yourself.

They didn't have only alcantara, so it's dealbreaker? I don't get this logic. Did you call JPM? They actually do custom fabrication for your needs.

Another vendor might make em? High quality stuff as JPM? Good luck forking over 2~3 times more.

BoostinIX 12-04-2013 01:42 PM

What happened to "If you don't like it, don't buy it." When did we go to "Let's gripe and moan about it online for days until we get our way". Vendor has the right to charge whatever they want. People complained about the wording, they changed the site to better reflect to you their price table. Don't like it, don't purchase.

Keep doing what you do JPM.
