I got cel on my way home. HELP
Hi Guys,
I am fairly new to the forum. Please help me out with this issue. I was driving home from work. I was on Grand Central Parkway and took the bqe exit and I was on 2nd gear, I hit the gas a little bit more than I should, and I saw the traction control came on for 1 second and then the car started to slow down, i keep trying to hit the gas, try to switch gears and hit the gas again but it was like braking. Everytime I hit the gas, rpm wouldnt go higher. Then I took the first exit and stop the car. I installed unichip just 2 weeks ago and I was on Map 0. I restart the car and throttle response was fine but CEL light is still on. Do you think this is the unichip, or me still having summer performance tires that had probably no grip on that corner that made the Trac Control go crazy. Please help me guys. Thanks |
Well, the first thing I would do is start & stop the engine a few times to see if the CEL would go away. If it doesn't, you should have the code read (either by a store bought code reader or by the folks at your local auto store or at a dealer).
Since tomorrow is a holiday and stores aren't open, you might consider disconnecting the battery for a minute or so, and see if the code will go away. Good luck! humfrz About those "summer tires" in the winter ...., well, you already found out.....:( |
My check engine light comes on sometimes when I turn off the traction control thingies and do donuts. It always clears after I turn off & restart the car though.

More likely due to unichip. These cars for whatever reason appear sensitive to stuff plugged into them. I had a CEL from using the Torque app as it was apparently looking for sensors/data that were unavailable on the vehicle.
Get the code and report back. |
