Delicious Tuning - 200+ whp E85, Stock Headers, EcuTeK ProECU
Hi All,
We had the opportunity to spend some considerable time dialing in an E85 tune for NASA Time Trials TTD class. With a lot of fine tuning on this car we were able to hit 200 wheel horsepower on a DynoJet Dyno. http://www.delicioustuning.com/sites...une_e85_v4.jpg * DynoJet - Comparison Mode Vehicle: 2013 Scion FRS - E85 Setup Engine Management: Delicious Tuning EcuTeK ProECU Exhaust System: Over Pipe and Straight Pipe Axel Back Headers: Stock Intake: K&N Panel Filter Fuel E85 HP: 200+ dynojet (175whp dyno dynamics) Vehicle: 2013 Scion FRS -Stock Configuration Engine Management: Stock Exhaust System: Stock Headers: Stock Intake: Stock Fuel: 91 Octane HP: 160 dynojet ( 140whp dyno dynamics) Not only are you not going to believe it, but even the racers competing NASA Time Trials did not believe it, especially after it just broke the track record in TTD class. Previous record held by a well modified Mazda Miata was 1.53.066 and it is not held by a 2013 Scion FRS with a time of 1.52:741. For comparison between Dyno Dynamics Dyno and DynJet Dyno's http://www.delicioustuning.com/img/S...une_e85_v4.jpg * DynoDynamics Stock 2013 Scion FRS produces about - 140-150 whp on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno - 170-180 hp on a DynoJet Dyno - 15% difference in the worst case (150 * 1.15 = 172.50 hp) E85 2013 Scion FRS produces about - 175 whp on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno - 200+ hp on a DynoJet Dyno - 15% difference in the worst case (175 * 1.15 = 201.25 hp) As another verification (besides the track record) we have the option to display the dyno chart in "Comparison Mode" which compares the horsepower to a DynoJet Dyno. In "Comparison Mode" we are able surpass the 200 whp mark by quite a margin as seen in the *first image above. So yes you can make 200+ whp on stock headers with minimal mods. Next test is to see if we can do it with just a panel filter. Spending a LOT of time playing around with Intake and Exhaust overlap along with a few custom maps in the RaceROM custom mapping in with EcuTeK ProECU has allowed us to tweak out every little horsepower from the engine while being reliable and consistent even on the track. Finally we are bringing the vehicle to a DynoJet in the coming weeks for the final verification as everyone I am sure would like to see. Cheers, William Knose |

Interesting...

Not trying to be a tool, but coming in claiming you made 200+whp because in "theory" you would make that on a different dyno that happens to read high is kind of nonsense. If you just came in here to showcase the impressive 35whp gain over stock I would be impressed, as would most others. But expect to get some flack over your virtual inflation factor just to have a catchy thread.

Isn't this pretty much the exact same thing that circuit motorsports did with their dyno numbers?
I really wish vendors would just post up their numbers instead of trying to make their gains look more impressive with fuzzy math. Either way looking at your real numbers it looks like some nice gains. |

His gains were nice enough on their own without all conversion to hit the "magic" 200 number. |

Also dyno jet is kind off considered the industries norm. So he needed to do his work in a "dynojet" mode ,because they dyno the cars before races( dont quote me) . If you are wrong and get placed in a wrong category you are screwed Sent from my IBrick |

I don't think Bill needs to boost his numbers to look good. His track record tuning cars speaks for itself.

I'd say there is good detail here. More than what most tuners post. Love to see logs of course from track use.

I'd be happy to record some logs the next time I'm doing some hard back road runs on Bill's E85 or 91 tunes. What parameters would you like to see recorded?
