Scion is axeing the xB and xD models!

According to an article by Torque News, Scion is planning to axe the xB and xD models. Apparently every car in Scion's lineup is suppose to only last a single life cycle car. Who knew?:iono:

It seems unlikely and with just one source I'm not ready to believe that Scion is going to cut two models from its already tiny 4 (soon to be five) model lineup. But I guess they started with just the xA and xB.

That blogger got his info from Ward's Auto, so I'm inclined to believe it.

I've never had much of an opinion about the xD either way, but I'll be glad to see the gen 2 xB go (model bloat makes me sad).

Yes but it's a boat that sells pretty well.

It's not up to SCION to decide. It's all up to Toyota (JP) to make another model or not

But it is (probably) up to Scion to decide which JDM Toyotas they want to import and rebadge. Which begs the question, are the Ist (xA/xD) and the Corolla Rumion (xB.2) being discontinued? or is Scion just looking to change directions?

I don't think so... But again, I'm not SCION VP or SCION rep, idk

That was how Scion was supposed to be from the start, xD took over for xA. even if they were very similar. Small, quirky, semi limited run, one model life cycle and move on to the next. I like it but itsa high turnover/conversion costs. Not as bad since most of them are kinda rebadged cars anyways

They could be trying to readjust their demographics down in age again. Aren't those the ones most popular with retirees?

If that's the case FRS only have one life cycle here in US

Well the xB grew too fat and bloated, so it lost the lustre the original had, and basically became a square Corolla hatchback.
The xD was...well...not popular. It was pretty much made redundant when the US got the 5 door Yaris since those cars were pretty similar (except for engine)

Plus these cars have stagnated for so long since they were introduced....

Well there are the exceptions, like there were 2 generations of xB and 2 generations of tC.

The xA and xD are both rebadged Toyota Ist's. The xD did not replace the xA, it's simply a second generation xA with a different nameplate.
