Don't forget the blizzaks to go along with that turbo.

280 peak?

evan 12-31-2013 05:57 PM

The hp/torque numbers are almost always peak.. At least that's how mine were published.

digital_assassin 12-31-2013 06:15 PM

Hell yeah Kohei. Can't wait to check it out.

I have not seen the dyno sheet yet, so I will find out more once I get to PRE.

Thermostat regulated tranny cooler for my AT, and a analog boost gauge in my heater/ac vent was the extra parts I installed on top of the base turbo kit.

I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED TO GO GET MY CAR. Took about 18 days to complete this process, holiday season is not the best time for big projects..

Impressive numbers on that low of boost! Congrats. I hope you enjoy it and happy New Year to you! ;)

Where are the pics?

BRZPDX 01-01-2014 02:38 PM

I will do a write up/video soon, just got uber fucked up last night.

First Impression:

This car feels alive now. Its not scary fast, but a good amount that transforms the car. Power actually feels smoother in the whole rev range compared to N/A surprisingly. Pushing low boost without an IC makes it super responsive. People say this should of been from factory, but now this is a serious car with power. I do think more people will crash it if this car had 280hp from factory.

Noise level decreased during cruising speed under 3.5k rpm, but increased after 5k rpm. With the external waste gate, and the dump tube underneath the car, it has a quiet "shhwwwwww" noise but definitely audible over my exhaust. Car just sounds like a different animal now. Turbo spool is audible as well, but with such low boost right now, its pretty tame so it doesn't make all sorts of noises like the ebay turbo's do.

Only gripe about it will be that they needed to take the undertray out for the waste gate dump tube, and the headers come very close to it. We will need to fab a hole in the undertray as well as a small spacer so that we can put it back on. Should be a easy fix.. I hope.. Right now I am driving without the undertray, and there is some unknown "fluttering" sounds only at high speed over 65mph, looks like the wind is coming in through the undertray and making something flutter. Other than that, everything feels solid.

As for the boost gauge, I went with the most OEM looking one that matches my factory gauges. Same color lit up, needles etc. Looks pretty sharp imo.

I'll post the dyno sheet after dinner tonight. it was 280whp/220tq with 5.5 psi, reaching full boost at 2700rpm.

Dyno sheet:
The fluctuation around the 2600RPM to 3300RPM is the AT torque converter locking up.

Interesting... How close is the hot side to your belts? Pics of the area between it and the belts would be awesome
