Good luck on the new set up, I saw the shop car last week

Thats why you spoil her right before the CC bill gets mailed home :D

Stuff the turbo kit and all the parts under the bed. Then one morning pull it out and say "Oh! There's that turbo kit I bought years ago, I forgot all about it. Maybe I'll go ahead and install it now!"

It worked for me with my old GF and my expensive model airplanes lol.

^ Good advice!

I went FI. Have not looked back since.

Have fun cause you will!

Kohei good choice on the FI but not a good choice to hide it from the soon to be wife. Got to be honest with her and just say hey i spent 4k on my car because i wanted to. Take the bumps and bruises when she throws shit at you and calls you names but at least you can say i was honest and didn't hide it!! It's not like your gambling away the rent money, at least i hope your not using your rent money on the FI!!!

Spend the money while she doesn't have clear line of sight of the finances. I have been married 12 years. The wife and I still have separate credit cards and checking accounts. We opened our first joint account 2 years ago. . . .

I guess i got lucky, my wife doesn't care what i spend our money on as long as the bills are paid. But like the wife says what ever i spend on car parts she gets to spend on shoes and purses good thing she doesn't know how much car parts really cost!!!

thanks for the marriage advice. My finances are fine.

Its that fine line between telling her how many shits you took today and what color/consistency. Some things are not worth telling imo.

Yea if this was part of the wedding fund or something, that will be an issue. Its my play money, and explaining a FI kit to a girl, and justifying its cost/risk/fun etc., is very difficult.

Just do like I do, buy it, then tell her that you don't need to justify your purchases. She'll be mad for an hour or so, but then will stop caring, because she knows she can't change your mind

I'm kinda with NickFRS. My wife and I have separate accounts, income and expenses. We don't give each other permission for anything and yet we respect each other and our decisions (as long as they don't adversely affect the other).

That said... When I upgraded the exhaust on my FRS, she said: "Hey I want a little more power too!" (referring to her MX5)

I'm a lucky man! :-)

This is going pretty off topic now, but the issue isn't in the current. Its lies in the future. People change all the time, I've seen hardcore religious people lose faith and become atheists, quiet person to party animal in their 30's, party animal to bible thumper, etc. We change all the time, and part of the reason for a high divorce rate is people growing out of each other. Its not just drugs, adultery, financial issues that can break up a married couple, like in the tabloids or movies. Sometimes views change, and priorities may change as well. Ultimately to keep it work, it is an substantial sacrifice, to change your personal views (throw away religion, political views etc) to accommodate the other or else you will need to part ways.

Especially when your young, I changed the most from 22 ~ 28 imo.

Update: So the car will not be finished today as planned, pretty standard for modding not completing on time. I added a few more extra parts in, which may have costed more time. Dyno tuning will not start until Monday. If not finished Monday, it will be after Christmas/New years time which realistically I'm thinking 12/30 ish now.

Pretty bummed out since I wanted to take to the 86 Christmas party :(

Boost gauge and tranny cooler was the additional parts to the kit.
