DIY: gaming setups on OEM headunits
WARNING: I am not responsible if you mess up you car/wiring. Proceed at your own risk
I didn’t fully do this from scratch. There are a few items I just bought or other people helped me/wrote guides for. Also note that I only got this fully functional on the 2014 Scion headunit (95% sure works on BRZ too), but audio does NOT work on 2013 bespoke due to AUX being used for Bespoke app instead of AUX. -Beatsonic backup harness 1st thing was I bought a backup camera harness from Beatsonic. Not the cheapest but a very good one so def worth it (may as well buy a backup camera too at this point since youll end up wired for one anyways). http://www.beatsonicusa.com/bcus3-536.html -relay Once the camera harness is all wired up you will need to wire up a relay and switch so that when u hit the switch the camera will come on (even when ur in neutral, driving forward, or whatever). Follow diagram #2 for the relay. Thanks to @MmmDieselFumes for the diagram and help. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1363747277 http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...IMG_1359-1.jpg -Video feed switcher Don’t hook the camera’s video cable directly to the backup harness. Instead run a video cable to a A/V switcher box like this http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...087044w345.jpg http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...en_US#inTheBox I connected the camera to input A and the video game to B and keep the box in my glove box for easy access when needed. And just attached with Velcro to the top of my glove box http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._/IMG_1360.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...IMG_1362-1.jpg -Audio NOTE: the aux style does NOT work with the 2013 bespoke headunit, but does with all 2014 touch screen headunits. I have a 3.5mm-to-AUX that I run from the Aux plug to output on the video switcher box (same set that u have the backup camera video feed hooked into). http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...1r5tZ7rqTL.jpg if ur willing to pop it out u can run the wire under the AUX plug pretty easiy so it’s a bit more out of the way http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._/IMG_1368.jpg -12V For this this I bought a simple 12V plug from PepBoys that I keep under my trunk mat. Ground it to your amp since it’s very easy access. To power it you need to tap into one of your front 2 12V plugs (center console or glove box), I used the center console one. Then just run the power wire all the way to the trunk (or wherever you have it). In the middle of the power wire cut it and put a simple ON-OFF switch in the middle so you can turn off the rear 12V when not using it, this way if ur using a SNES or anything with a power switch that slides you can leave it on and just turn it on and off up front via the switch. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...-39051-8-2.jpg http://www.bellautomotive.com/Dash-M...-1-39051-8.htm -inverter You’re also going to need a power inverter to plug into the 12V so that you can plug a normal house style AC adapter in. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...12309_x_ra.jpg Heres how it all looks in the back (inverter and plugs on the left) http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._/IMG_1365.jpg it’s very clean looking when u put the mats and all back in too http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._/IMG_1363.jpg 2ns controller (driver side for use when parked only!!) comes from under the driver dash andstores safely under when not in use http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._/IMG_1366.jpg [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo1BFEwsndI"]Frs SNES demo - YouTube[/ame] [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VFx1xLrJaA"]SNES frs - YouTube[/ame] |
-Bigger console update:
so finally got around to testing it out and turns out that it is def powerful enough to power an Xbox 360 so the possibilities are def endless. all features on it worked fine and smooth. movies work great and so do games. only issue is still the on screen text. but thats not a big worry to me. now if only i can get wifi in the car.... can u say online multiplayer at car shows? http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a138/Ricky08_/1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a138/Ricky08_/2.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a138/Ricky08_/3.jpg |

That is so damn cool. Id love to have my old nes or hell a ps3 in the BRZ for shits and giggles. One problem. I don't do wires. If I attempted anything electrical like that Id burn the car to the pavement.
