Cold Start Clunk Noise

When I started my car this morning, the temp on the dash showed 19 degrees and it did its usual 2000rpm idle for a couple of minutes. In that time, the motor made a fairly loud clunk/knock every half second or second. The car is completely stock and that noise was completely unnerving. It is only ever filled with 93 octane. No CELs but if this is going to be a regular occurance in the winter, I will be very pissed.

Maybe one of the experienced tuners can shed some light on the cold start like @FA20Club.com or @shiv@vishnu.

Happening to a lot of folks. First thought it it just may be normal. My BRZ personally makes 1 clunk during warm up of a cold start (usually within 10 seconds of engine cranking), but sounds fine afterwards.

or maybe is that? http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...highlight=cold

Mine is 100% stock. I am not the biggest fan of the cold start tables in the stock ROM though (I can really see the benefit of a good tune in pretty much all aspects for this motor really).

Allot of people had the same issues last year this same time with temps dropping. they can be avoided but that would require some sort of tuning to be done.

Regular occurrence in the winter, generally the colder the louder I've noticed.

I remember someone posting that they believe the popping sound a shake is the result of the 1st cat being warmed up by the stock tunes aggressive start-up.
