Another 86 on fire

Anyone heard anything about that 86 that came into the hot pits with an engine bay on fire etc at Willow Springs a few days ago?

Just wondering what might have happened?

Before you start spreading internet rumours - can you document how many times this has happened?

Clearly i sit at a desk all day documenting how many times a car model catches fire.

I dont spread rumors, but i am interested to see if there is a relation in equipment to the other car that caught fire recently.

Here:

THESE CARS DO NOT DRIVE OFF THE LOT AND SMOKE UP WHEN THEY ARE STOCK.

Ok so on what grounds are you saying this is "happening far too often"?

Do you work in human resources? because you are far too litteral.

Deadspool 11-25-2013 01:41 PM

I'll clarify.

If you are informed of the previous car that caught fire recently, you would know it was a piece of aftermarket equipment that failed. Two cars failing, this is only counting the people who actually devote any time to reading these forums and care to post mind you, Is too many.

One, is a shame, Two is becoming suspicious.

I work in warranty disposition and I spend my entire work day investigating claims like this with engineering and manufacturing.

All it takes is for two erroneous claims and everyone thinks the world is on fire (pun intended) and my clock starts ticking and I have to comb through end users who have the attitude that if it fails, it is warranty and don't actually co-operate with addressing root cause. People often think my job is to deny them the claim. My job actually, is to make sure it doesn't happen again so addressing root cause is always the answer.

So before you jump to conclusions, lets do our "Who, what, why, where and when"?

I noticed the tags on this thread include Visconti tune - I wonder if that is related. I am speculating here but is it possible that this could have been a test mule that maybe ran a little too high boost?

Muskokan 11-25-2013 01:52 PM

only one ive heard of was the visconti incident..

mrk1 11-25-2013 02:33 PM

I think there is a thread about this already, just trying to consolidate rumors

This. Also the reason why.

Some cars have burned due to faulty HPFP replacement. Others had fire damage after setting grass on fire underneath the car (which is no fault of the car).

I haven't seen any just burn for no reason.
