Cheapest possible snow tires plz
 

Hi,

Can someone direct me to where i can find the cheapest possible set of snow tires on the cheapest wheels possible? Tire rack has some i can get mounted on cheap wheels for like 600 to 700 maybe. Anyone selling used ones? Is it not practical to only get a pair of rear snow tires and leave the front stock? I understand that cheap tires may not be very safe but i dont plan on driving this far or often during these next shitty months. I would much rather spend my koney on performance parts Any advice would be helpful

When $$$ is a factor, Winterforce tires win hands down. I've had a set for 8 seasons and they work great.

Edit: And you should ALWAYS put snow tires on in sets (F & R).

Winterforce isn't available in stock size (215/45/17).

You want the cheapest possible so you can spend on performance items for summer?

I've found 16" tires + wheels are often cheaper than 17" tires.

I'd question the logic like ZionsWrath did, but to be fair, OP did say he's not driving far or often.

Hmm, on that note, maybe taking a taxi on those trips would be even cheaper than buying tires that admittedly won't be used very much.

I too am having a difficult time justifying winter rubber because I want to save up for warm weather mods. But I always have the option of car pooling to work if the conditions aren't safe.

I don't really like the "not far or often" excuse to get shitty winter rubber though. You can easily lose control and do damage to yourself and your car no matter how far you're going or how often you need to use it.

If you don't have another mode of transportation or someone who can give you rides, definitely don't skimp on your winter safety just to save a few bills. "cheapest possible" solution is rarely the smart solution. rarely.

Definitely worth cheaping out on the thing that will keep you from going into a ditch on the ice. That way you can spend all that money you saved on body work in the summer! As long as they are black and round (ish?)!
