I was backing into a spot and met a damn metal post.. Please no jokes guys, I'm already devastated enough.

What am I looking at in damages?

I already know the taillight is a bitch... I would be scared to buy one without a warranty too given the moisture issues... Is it salvageable? Can I buy the clear shroud separately and swap it?

I can live with the damaged bumper but unfortunately the damage goes a little further up. The gap between the body and the trunk door also looks a little bigger, too, so now I'm really scared.
I'm trying to figure out if I can avoid making an insurance claim.

Motherfu***...

Well it certainly looks like you've hit hard times.

Ouch, that sucks :(

2 grand easy...

what's your deductible?

Jaywest717 11-23-2013 03:28 PM

What is with all the accidents lately?

whtchocla7e 11-23-2013 03:30 PM

As far as accidents go... I'm glad I only hurt my own dumb ass and my own wallet. Others probably have less luck.

I have a $500 deductible for collision.

Check this out, somewhat similar damage on this car:

Accidents happen bro that's why we have insurance pay your deductible and have it fixed. At east you did it! I was at work one night about 8 months ago only to come to my car at break and find my front fender dented in from someone backing out and in to it. Fucking savages just left me with all that damage. They probably had no insurance. Anyway man good luck

Panel damages are not cheap, not to mention
-Paint job
-New OEM Lights, you can buy after market cheaper
-Labor

You are looking at 2500+ total

stevo_12v 11-23-2013 03:50 PM

Only thing that's bad about that is the actual metal part, rest is easy to fix. Get rid of those ugly stock lights though and get some TOM's like all the other Zx6 owners out there. Or get some COLIN TYC's :D

..

Well, whtchocla ...... that's a shame .....

I can identify ..... my last few "mishaps" or close calls, have been while backing up. Everytime I put a car into reverse, mrs humfrz hunkers down into her seat and closes her eyes..... :(

My classic was backing into and knocking over a port-a-potty at a new home construction site .... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...images/doh.gif

That damage looks to me like you should seriously consider turning it into your insurance carrier.

It would be a shame for such a pretty car to go just patched up.

If you don't want to go the insurance route, you could try to get a right rear light assembly of eBay or online. Take it to several body shops and say you are getting rates for a cash job, no insurance. Some shops give good deals for cash.
