Along with the unveil of the Lexus LF-NX Turbo concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, the automaker is also displaying the new turbocharged four-cylinder engine that equips it. The full technicalities were not revealed, but we know it’s a 2-liter four-cylinder gasoline turbocharged unit that uses both port- and direct-injection as well as variable valve timing. Made for quick accelerations, efficiency and fast response, the unit features cylinder head integrated exhaust manifold and a twin scroll turbocharger. Its combustion is also optimized through fan spray direct injection, assuring a complete and even fuel burning process. The new turbocharged engine is expected to make around 300 hp and 350 Nm of torque and it’s expected to fit Lexus models like the IS, CT, RC and the production model of the LF-NX, being known under the 200t codification. I think I am trading in my RX as soon as this NX available. Then I don't have to look for another Sport car LOL! |
Ugh, the trend for these integrated manifolds is bad news for the aftermarket.

maybe, but its been my experience that a team of engineers paid in the high 6 digit salaries, tend to make more mechanically precise and better performing designs than those sofa-engineers that design using reddit "forum theories" and a craigslist purchased autocad water-jet aluminum printer. Half the products out there are detrimental and claim 1-5hp, you can fart into your intake and register 1-5hp.
Its a decent engine and the integration provides a lot of benefits, from cost to reliability. Id expect this to be a real competitor in the intro level luxury sedan market. with bmw slipping, this would be a strong competitor to the audi a4. |
Nice animation!
Now why can't they stick that in a light-weight RWD coupe... |

they could if you enjoy a 65/35 (not real numbers) weight distrobution and an engine sitting in front of the axle. |
Weight distro for a 2JZ FRS is about 59/41. Just a heads up. And that 2.0 will be aluminum as well, so it would be even more balanced.

So in other words, every car is turbo now... except the 86
