Good dealer discounts?
 

So I think I finally decided on what colour I want for my new 86: Red (high spec manual)

I also want to order a car in December for January delivery, as it needs to be registered in 2014. Not in a rush and don't mind waiting a month or two if I need to. However, I heard there might be a price increase in January, so I need to order in December to beat the increase and still get a 2014 model.

Been asking a few dealers in Gauteng and Durban for prices. Best discount I could get was around 3%. FWIW, Subaru is willing to give me a 5% discount, but that still makes it about R30k more than the 86, which IMO is still not worth it - so I'm sticking to the Toyota.

Any suggestions on which dealers would give me a better discount. I don't mind taking delivery from a remote Toyota dealer 200 or 300KM's out of JHB if I get 5% off. Or am I being hopeful... I also don't mind flying to Durban to collect.

I doubt you'd get a huge discount on a low volume car like this.

86 has recently had a price increase, not sure if it would be getting another in January but rather be safe than sorry I guess. I would take the 3%.

I've heard from a dealer that the 86 price will increase by another R4500 or so in January

I got 11K discount on mine, which was just over 3% at the time.

Subaru can do better here, since their margin is somewhat higher.

Toyota has a price increase on everything on the 1 Jan every year.
So I suggest you sign the offer to purchase late in Dec (before they close) in order to get your car at the 2013 price.
Then register and take delivery in the new year when they open.

I got 3.5% last year this time from Killarney Toyota in Stanger. Maybe a bit of a mission but its the same distance to Stanger as it is to Durban from the airport.
