Hi All,

Long time lurker, new member...

I flew out to Colorado Springs last weekend and drove my new BRZ back to SoCal. I had read so many positive posts about Clint and Heuberger Motors that it seemed too good to be true but my cynicism turned out to be unjustified (for once). Everything went smoothly and I was impressed with the whole buying experience. Clint and his team were great to work with. If you have the time and willingness, I highly recommend a fly/drive purchase from Clint and Heuberger.

Here's a quick summary of my trip home:

Break-in period -- maybe 10 minutes; ie, the time it took for the oil to reach operating temp. I know there are two schools of thought about this and I belong to that other school. Besides, this car needs higher RPMs to come alive, especially around 14K ft Colorado mountains.

Interstate-avoiding return route -- lots of snow and slippery conditions; no chains (bought some cables at a Walmart along the way but never put them on for fear of damaging the car -- not the smartest decision...); lots of terrifying moments with cars and trucks ahead and behind during wind-blown white-out conditions. Took it really slowly and eventually made it to warmer climes.

Favorite stretch -- Flagstaff to Sedona on the scenic route. Not to be missed!

Some surprises -- great gas mileage (32 avg, as reported by the computer, despite lots of high RPM mountain driving); dash mounted headlamp aiming adjustment (a bit of BMW-inspired gratuitous technology, IMO)

Nav gripes - wrong/obsolete road data; clumsy UI; map dimming doesn't work as advertised in headlight mode but works correctly in manual day/night mode (FW bug?)

Other gripes - lack of storage space in the cabin (my MCS has lots more places to put stuff and it's smaller); poorly engineered seatbelt guide loops on the seats; around-town range on the low side; the power dip

Notwithstanding the few minor complaints, the BRZ was a blast to drive on the trip home and I'm looking forward to many fun years with my new daily driver. :)

Congrats! The car looks very sharp in that color.

Congrats! I'll be doing the exact same as you myself. Although I'm not driving it back to Ohio. Colorado is a nice place I miss living there. Flagstaff is a nice drive for sure.

map dimming w/ headlights does work properly, but you have to use the adjuster next to your headlight angle adjuster to put the HUD in anything-but-brightest setting.

enjoy the new ride!

I went to college in flagstaff. That scenic drive to Sedona is awesome. I hope to get back there in this car. I can only imagine how epic it can be

The scenic route from Flag through Sedona through Jerome to Prescott to Wickenburg is NOT to be missed. LOTS of hairpin mountain downhill fun!

In Phoenix, we just call it "The Twisties." The uphill currently belongs to the STIs, but I bet the twins would give the STIs and WRXs runs for their money on the downhill.

Sir- no road would be as nice as going to Sedona from flag in this car. I had fun in a Tacoma pickup

Continue that road, though. It gets more fun, more twisty, and more downhill ;).
