Help with poke on rear

Hey guys,

Sorry for the odd request but does anyone have any images of a FRS/GT86 with around about 1.4cm of poke on the rear? The reason being is the wheels I want to buy with the offsets have 1.4cm of poke and I just want to know how terrible it will look. I will be lowering the car a little maybe an inch maximum so I am not going crazy low/cambered.

Thank you
Ash

That kind of rear poke. I knew that.

Can you share the width and offset of these wheels? Curious on the Maths that brought you to 1.4cm of "poke".

my 13-yr-old just read that title over my shoulder and spewed out his frosted mini-wheats in a fit of laughter.

Don't have too much experience with a poke on the rear, but I would suggest to make sure he's lubed up :)

Kimsey47 11-20-2013 10:27 AM

Funny... We were just talking about the Ambigously Gay Duo at work and then this "popped up"

WolfsFang 11-20-2013 10:47 PM

Half inch poke is not going to kill you, my wheels had like 2 inches of poke before I did some camber.

LOl damit I really should have been paying attention but I think its safe to say 2am thread titles are never a good idea. I am sorry I dont have proper ET offsets just yet its just what the wheel guy I am buying the wheels off told me. He asked me to measure the distance from tyre to spring to gauge clearance and then took the factory specs and gave me a 1.4cm poke of the wheel in the rear guard.

WolfsFang any more pictures of your set up? I have looked through your thread, is that image above with 2" of poke from the rear guards?

ZionsWrath 11-21-2013 05:08 AM

wow I would definitely find a new "wheel guy".

If he can't give you the basic width and offset, I don't even...

Ash.B 11-21-2013 05:13 AM

For sure I would as well but seeing as no one here will build me some VS-XX I am stuck. I will ask again for proper offsets but at this stage thats all I have to work with sorry. I will try my best to get proper offsets and post them up I am just currently looking for anyone with any pictures of their rear wheels sticking out 1.4cm or there about past the rear guard

I have 9.5 +45 in rear and probably close to what you are describing

Ash.B 11-21-2013 05:19 AM

Sorry I asked him again and I got them ^_^

17x8 with 2.5" dish ET 22
17x9 with 3" dish ET 24

ZionsWrath 11-21-2013 05:25 AM

According to the sticky you need 17x9 +42 to be flush at stock height and 17x9 +37 to be flush at inch lower. So looks like you will need to be slammed to flush 9 inch with 24 offset.

Looks like similar situation in the front.

I wouldn't buy it unless you are going to the herrasfrush look

I dont want the hella flush look at all but I will go rocket bunny over fenders later on, however this set up I was hoping to work with stock body for now. I knew it would stick past the guards but I was hoping to see pictures like WolfsFang posted as an idea

Ash.B 11-21-2013 05:38 AM

any pictures of your set up please ZionsWrath?

ZionsWrath 11-21-2013 06:29 AM

If you look at page 2 of this thread there are some pics of stock height BRZ with 9.5 +45 rear.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21697

Page 1 and a few other pics throughout the thread show with a drop it is flush in the rear. I think you are still gonna poke with the specs you said unless you run a lot of camber and/or a significant drop.

ZionsWrath 11-21-2013 04:09 PM

The front is too much for me but the rear is actually not too bad in terms of me thinking it would stick out much more than that ^_^ thank you ZionsWrath

Thank you both very much ^_^ I am going for staggered set up Juanam0909 so hopefully the specs I post above will sit decently on my car.

juanam0909 11-21-2013 08:50 PM

Yea you shouldn't have any problem rubbing at all I'm about 1.5 dropped and no problems

Just make sure when you get wheels be sure what lug nut sizes you need and hub centric ring are recommended.

Juanam0909 for sure I will take care of that, I will be ordering some Work lug nuts and I will get hub centric rings as well, I was more worried about the poke from the guard since I am not getting that much poke to be hellaflush with the trend its just what the offset became for me to get 3" of dish on the rear. I look forward to some pictures so I know what I am getting myself into

dunno what suspension you're gonna run, but you will need to be dropped on coilovers to be flush. your fitments are on the aggressive side for this car.

if your car is at stock height or on springs with a small drop (1 inch or less), I would recommend against running them.

Ash.B 11-23-2013 12:43 AM

going HKS Hipermax 5's looking at a 1" drop would do more pending drive way clearance thats my main concern

dori. 11-23-2013 01:13 AM

just get coils and reverse into your driveway LOL

Ash.B 11-23-2013 08:19 AM

lol Thank you Dori. well I used to do that with my MX5 and that was sitting on the floor so getting in and out of my driveway used to cause major problems so I should be ok with a slightly higher car :D
