And my auto frs pulls harder and feels so much better. Granted It's a 2003, but it's amazingly different. I like my frs :)

Pulls harder than your 350Z? Was your Z only running on 4-5 cylinders?

I'm sure he means pulls harder than before. Anyone who runs this engine in correctly must notice the substantially better performance once 2,000 miles are passed. I think the engine continues to loosen up for much higher mileage, I'm at 2,600 miles and the engine is still improving.

It'll never out pull a 350Z though.

actually I can see an fr-s pulling harder than a 350z especially if it's the pre high rev model. Their 1/4 and 0-6 times arent far off from the fr-s and with time and use the motor just may not putting down the same power as it did brand new ...

I'm talking mid rpms btw, like 3-5k. It just didn't pull even in second like my frs. At high revs, it might be different. And yes 2003 is 10 years old but it has low miles.

I'm a bit skeptical - the 350Z base model put down 287hp, and it only weighed ~3200lb. That is a substantially better power to weight ratio than the BRZ/FRS. It would also do 0-60 in 5.5 (tested), vs 7.7 seconds for the auto BRZ/FRS (the one mentioned here), and the quarter in 14 flat at 101, vs 15.9 at 91.5 (again, for the auto). Even using the manual's numbers (6.4 to 60, quarter in 14.9@95.5), the 350z is nearly a full second faster in both metrics. There's no getting around the fact that the 350z, even the earliest model, is substantially faster than the BRZ/FRS in a straight line.

I mostly agree with this, but your numbers assume he's got a manual 350z. Not sure if that makes a difference though.

That's true - I couldn't find the acceleration times for the auto though. They're probably a bit slower than the manual 350z, but I bet they're still faster than even the manual BRZ, unless Nissan really botched the ratios.

Yeah and it probably wouldn't make a difference anyway since the auto BRZ would be slower regardless.

I had a tune up last year, but maybe it needs the map/maf sensor cleaned and whatnot. I just googled and other people are saying the same thing about being sluggish. I'm selling it, so it doesn't matter much, but it would be nice to be in its best shape. And it as manual btw.

No way your FR-S pulls harder, *particularly* from 3000-5000rpm, than your 350Z did, unless something was bad wrong with your Z. Even if there wasn't the dreaded torque dip the Z is making >50% more torque and power in that range. And with the dip, at 4000rpm the Z is making 100 lb-ft more rear wheel torques than the FR-S, ~220 lb-ft vs. ~120 lb-ft.!

Limiting rpm to 3000-5000 for both, a stock 287hp 350Z will destroy a stock FR-S/BRZ by an even greater margin than 0-60 and 1/4 mile times indicate.

Couldn't agree more. I've done track days with 350Z's in my group and they blew my doors off on the straights.
