Top? t-top, removable hard-top

Hey so i was missing my 2004 mustang convertible the other day while driving my frs home from work. i was wondering if anyone has heard of anyone making the top into a t-top or a removable hardtop kind of like the old corvettes and other cars have had in the past? I was thinking it couldn't be that hard or expensive and if you took out the back seats, which are pretty worthless, it would be a good holding spot for the t-tops or hard-top. plus i think it would look way cool and give a nice little feel to the car. Has anyone done this or head of it done before?

A lot harder than you think, since this is a unibody. The chassis wasn't designed to NOT have the roof structure, so you'd have to reinforce it, to keep it from bending. It can be done, but it won't be easy, or cheap.

Be prepared for shit-ton of body flex due to the car loosing the roof structural rigidity (which it was never designed to in the first place), a good deal of weight gain to regain some of the stiffens, and a significant weakening of the A-pillars in the event of a roll over and this is not counting the easily 5k+ price your looking at to get this done

This being said...... it would be so badass, it would (for me at least) out way all the negatives lol, so I'd say go all in and be a pioneer :party0030:

hahaha it would be so badass, but yea i was thinking about 4-6k price range, ah fudge! do you know of anyone doing this?

Find a custom shop that has done that type of work before and get a quote. It's been done on other cars, but probably better to find someone that's done it so they understand what structural changes should be made.

IMO, I'd just wait for the inevitable convertible.

^^^That looks sweet!

But yeah...it'll never happen IMO.

It would be very expensive to have it done at a shop and you'd have to worry about leaking

there's no worrying about it, it WILL leak... i'm the guy that used to have a 10+ year old convertible.. no matter what you do, it will leak eventually, it's only a matter of time..
