Amsoil giving me crap mileage

Hey people,

Yes, another oil thread. Sorry!

I changed my break-in oil at 2800 with Amsoil xl.
I used to get 27.5-29 mpg with the factory oil. Since I changed it I'm getting 25.5. Not driving any differently.

Any ideas?

Thinking of switching to Mobil 1 0w-20 advance fuel economy oil. Does anyone have any experience on this one? Yes i search the forums, saw Mobil 1 but not that style.

I'm not tracking the car or anything. Just regular driving. Don't even rev higher than 5k.

Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks!

im using mobil 1 5w20 just for economic purposes until my track days, and i average the same as the toyota 0w20 around 30mpg avg. If you dont even go past 5k just use the dealer oil.

I use some sort of "advanced fuel economy" oil... It's only called that because its such a low weight, I think. I'm sure that oil will be fine. Was the Amsoil also 0W-20?

My #1 choice http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/produ.../#.UovJ9OLBNgg

Mobil 1 blows engines up, at least in my experience with it.....will never use again

Amsoil is snake oil, lots of hype but little science backing it up.....same thing, based upon my experience using it.

Valvoline Full Synthetic would be my second choice..........

Yeah it was 0w-20.

Do I need royal purple for daily driving? I don't mind spending the money as long as it keep the engine running long :)

I was thinking of just using factory if not the Mobil 1.

Did it blow the engine up on a tuned engine?

I've ran Mobil 1 on my prelude, civic, and jetta 1.8t. Never had problems and I drove the jetta pretty hard.

Lol price is not the issue. Want a good oil that will protect the engine.

Yeah, if you're not pushing your car hard on a regular basis, just about any full synthetic 0W-20 will do... After checking, I find that I use that Mobil 1. It seems fine to me.

Thanks! You use the one with the green front right? Notice anything different from the engine with it?

I have the free stuff that came with the free service at 7500 miles and I average 32mpg. 28mpg with A/C on.
