How to remove swirl marks on black car?
1 Attachment(s)
Just got a new fr-s and after my first wash I noticed there were swirl marks all over the car. I took it to a detailer and he said he couldn't remove the swirl marks and that they were cob webs or something like that. The swirl makes are all over my hood and trunk. I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove them? This is the best picture I could get.

Just hire a reputable pro to do paint correction on your car, if you need recommendations then contact me. Full article here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51872 |
My concern is that you put the swirls there with the way you washed your car. Granted, they may have been put onto the car when they "detailed" it before delivering it to you.
You didn't possibly wash your hood and trunk last as you washed the car, did you? |
I have had several dark/black cars before... the BRZ has really soft paint so it's a pain to work with. Since you are in Florida...there's a fellow name Garry Dean you can see on youtube on how to wash cars.
Even then I still get a line here or there when not careful. My recommendation as other has suggested is to get your car detailed by some pro... Garry Dean also does that...I never used him, but have seen his name used a few times to polish the scratches out. Don't go for opti coat... it's not good for paint protection...it will make your car hydro phobic, but it won't make it scratch resistant... even will etch with bird poop or bee poop or other things...just the way it is with that product. You can try C. Quartz Finest...it's like Opti coat in that it is hydro phobic...but it's more scratch resistant from what I have seen online. I have opti coat and I"m not happy with it...not 2.0...but the pro stuff. If it's too much money...use Zaino and do it yourself. If you want a show car...then get a pro...if not...start being more gentle with wash techniques...but it's hard on this car. |
It could also be the dealers who put them in there. It's more then likely.

Second - I'd consider going to a different detailer. |
Todd Helme is in Orlando and he may be able to help you or find recommend someone else.

How could he not remove them? Perhaps he the detailer has no experience with paint.
