Do i report to insurance?

Hello. This morning, someone hit me from the rear end. It felt like a huge hit, but I went to go check it out. There didn't seem to be any scratches or anything. I checked if the reverse light worked, and it seemed fine. I got the person's insurance, but I am not too sure if I should report it. I don't want to report it, if it's going to screw with the person's insurance.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Insurance likely won't do anything without a police report. So file that first then decide if it's worth pursuing.

If no one is hurt, and nothing is damaged, it should be fine. Happened to my ML350, nothing was damaged, and no one was hurt, so i let it slip.

i think your back and neck hurts

Why are you so concerned about the other persons insurance? Thats what its there for. If you hurt or you feel something may be broken, follow through. Youre not going to screw anyone but yourself if you give the other guy a free ride because you dont want to use what the law mandates they carry for situations like this.

Check closely for no damage including paint damage. If there's absolutely none, forget about it. If you reported it to your insurance company it should have no impact on your insurance as it would be considered 'non-chargeable'. If there's any, key word being any, damage file a claim against the other guys insurance company.

p.s. I'm a retired insurance claims manager.

Yea, i'd say check it again. You're going to regret it when you notice your bumper wiggling a few months down the road. And worry about his insurance, think about yourself before caring for others, cause chances are he wouldn't have been so nice if you smacked him.

Thanks for the good advices. Yeah I know I shouldn't worry about the other person's insurance. It was at a near by hospital. She was probably going max 10 mph and she was pregnant so I felt bad (probably in a rush to get to the hospital). I'm not sure if the rear bumper is wiggly because I never closely looked at it until now.

I'm glad there are nice people like you.

next time you lightly tap someone's bumper because you were thinking of boobies for a split second too long, and instead of getting a "it's okay, don't worry about it" good-guy-greg... a grumpy asshole who will call the cops, file a police report, call your insurance, and claim that the mole on his left butcheeck was a direct result of your reckles driving...you'll think back to this thread and realize how much of a douche you are.

Moles can be an early sign of skin cancer. Damn straight I'd call my insurance.
