Shell 92 Octane
Curious why I way buying 92 octane from Shell Oil in Northern California last week on my road trip to Oregon. Then when I came back along Hwy 101 and I purchased at a Shell station in Santa Rosa, I noticed that it was back to 91. Keep in mind though that I went up via Interstate Highway 395 and nobody lives out there, and I was at passes over 8,000 feet at times.
Anybody know the real reason? Mount Whitney portal road http://m4.i.pbase.com/o9/43/389743/1...._DSF44851.jpg Lee Vining http://m5.i.pbase.com/o9/43/389743/1...._DSF45591.jpg |
Different citys and/or states have different octane levels. Unfortunately finding anything more than 91 in socal is pretty difficult to impossible. Some places can probably get away with higher octane levels, i dont know the facts but theres some ethanol free gas places in socal, but it;s not worth the driving distance to fill up. Chrip chirp :(
