Look really nice

Are these glass lenses ? And can the housings hold HID temperatures safely ?

Yes Glass.

HID temperatures are nothing on glass or plastic.

Many car with HID are using plastic housing on their headlight from the factory.

Example: Ferrari F458/430, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Audi, M.B. etc.

Very true but thank you for the answer ! I've just been very "paranoid" ever since I melted the insides of my oem fog light housings when I put in the HIDs the first time before opting out and buying the 2013 outback housings... Thanks though, I am now extremely compelled to buy this

What size bulb does it require? I presume these will be pre-aimed and leveled? These will fit on a brz too, correct?

Phreshh, was it a 35w ballast? did your oem harness melt too? I want to confirm this due to the lack of information out there.

Yup, it was a 35W ballast 6300k HIDs I believe. I put the lights in and my lighting guy told me to wait and make sure everything was fine. After approximately 15-20 minutes, we took the lights off and checked it out. The housings inside were melting already ahah. I also tried using LEDs and the heat build up inside of the fog lights were causing those to burn out. The ventilation for the oem fog lights suck. So I went and bought the 2013 Subaru Outback fog lights which are glass lense, composite housing with a different ventilation set-up and they work perfectly ! You also would have to buy the H11 pigtail harness too.

CCFL ignitors have a tendancy to self-imolate.

They're also sensitive to temperature, lighting up slower in the cold than when it's warm out.

chenshuo 12-02-2013 11:13 AM

can i replace the BRZ fog with this fog lamp? would it be plug and play?

I'm assuming you're talking about the inverter. Those look a lot like the morimoto halos. I had those for a year and they never had an issue with temperature or vibrations.

wow even the led bulbs cause trouble? perhaps the problem lies not in the plastic but in ventilation like you said. Are all Outback fog lights the same ever year? or is the composite type only available on the 13 and up?

Yupp, the lense was still okay, but the heat build up inside was crazy. My lighting guy has a laser temperature meter, and he checked it out. Even though the LEDs were quite a bit lower in temperature, it was still hot enough in there to burn them out partially.

I'm unsure if all of the outback housings are the same throughout the years however, but there was a list of compatible fog light housings from different manufacturers.. I believe certain mustangs, and mdx used the same mounting just to name a few.

I found a nissan sentra fog light that has the exact same design as well, with a substantially good price too. However, in the end i opted with the Valeo glass fogs instead. It's even cheaper and Sentra and looks like it has very good build quality as well. I hope this leap of faith pays off. thanks a lot for the info.

Nice ! I was in a huge rush when I was looking for mine which is why I didn't shop around at all, I basically found the most common one and went for it. It cost me roughly $125 if I remember correctly. But I hope this works out for you ! Feel free to pm if you have any other questions

So has anyone installed these nigel-jdmparts projector fog lights with halo in their ride? pictures? Have a hard time finding the finishing look from the front.
