Also, the interior is pretty nice in the new Mustangs, I'm not sure why you'd say it's rental car looking. Even without leather it's pretty nice. I think I like it better than the FR-S/BR-Z's...

Toyota GT86 Limited come w all leather option. Ford is made here so of course they can do all those options without bumping huge mark up. It goes same with Toyota, they're made in Japan, so they can do leather option with huge mark up

I almost caved into the following cars on Craig's List:

2001 Audi S4
AP1 S2000
2006 Hawkeye STi

This will be the first Toyota I have owned, I have owned nothing but Japanese cars. I grew up with my dad owning a couple Cressida's, 1st gen supra, and my mom drives a rav 4 now. lol My brother drives a 400 HP STi, and my dad drives a 2011 WRX limited edition. The only non-Japanese car in the family was a 98 Volvo Low Pressure Turbo AWD wagon... god my family are a bunch of JDM snobs, lol!

I almost caved and looked for a used 240 or S2k, but couldnt find an unmolested example at a decent price. And the insurance on the S2000 would kill me.

speaking of S2000, I think the 86 chassis is much more capable and controllable compare to the S2k.

S2000 is just too nervous and you really need to push it hard to get 100% out of it.

Aside from the steering wheel and shift knob, that Mustang looks like a rental car interior to me. Blocky and unimaginitive; typical American car interior. The factory Recaro seats are a nice option, though! I'd definitely have to get one with them.

yeah but that live axle on real roads, is a pain in the ass, theres a few back roads my friend in his mustang cant follow me on at the same speeds i do them at because the lumps in the road unsettle his back end and the back end starts to misbehave and my celica has very worn shocks from tracking it and it doesnt unsettle one bit...

I found a few very nice examples near me for around $20k with less than 20k miles on them. Very, very tempting but I'm just not a Honda fan. I don't know what it is about Hondas that puts me off. I really like the S2000 but something about owning a Honda... I just can't do it. Same reason I had to get the Subaru; I refuse to be a Scion owner.

Ironic, I feel about Subaru the way you feel about Honda. I would rather drive a Scion with it's stigma then a Subaru.

I like what the chap from Motor Trend said when comparing the V6 Mustang to the BRZ: "Now it might have the best live rear axle ever, but that's a bit like saying you're the healthiest guy in Intensive Care" :bellyroll:

Yeah, that bit was great! I'm glad this comparison got posted; I was really looking forward to it.

Delusional guy...what are you going to tell people when they say, "hey man nice Scion?" (when people say that to me I'll be like yeah, I'm enjoying my Lexus transmission, and fuel system!)

that's all...

I owned an S2000 several years ago and all the only advice I would give is sit in the seats for a long time before you buy and make sure you're comfortable. The seats that are in the car are beautiful but things are so cramped that those are about the biggest seats that will fit. They hit me the wrong way and it was exceedingly uncomfortable after about five minutes. There are no after market seats that fit in the car except for the tiny track seats that would make it impossible for me to get in the car.

I felt stupid for buying the car but luckily sold it for about what I paid for it. If you fit, great... it's an awesome car (though I prefer the roominess of the FR-S). Just make sure you test it out really well before buying.

Personally I think this quote applies to all cars, including the FR-S/BRZ.

On what grounds? That I found two S2000's with <20k mi. for less than $20k or that I don't like Hondas? The last one I'll agree to. The first one, I found two 2004's.

It had to be done, I just couldn't pass up on a brand new 25k GT stang in black. As much as I was wanting an FRS, the dealer lip service I recived from multiple dealers, along with the cluelessness just left a bad taste in my mouth. And don't even get me started in Subuaru; you would think I was purchasing a prestigious Ferrari Enzo. But I don't think this is the end of the line for me and this car. I'm sure I will be back. In the meantime, I have enjoyed lurking, and being part of the excitement of this car. I truly hope it works out for everyone who pruchases one!
