BRZ Exhaust details

Hey guys.

Looking for zhorst options on my 86.

Quick Q. From where does the local BRZ 'performance' system replace the stock one on the 86. I would like something that replaces from and including the over pipe which will also eliminate the secondary cat. If the BRZ system does not do that then I will go with another option. BTW, what is the size / diameter of this system.

BTW, has anyone looked at local exhaust manifold (branch) developments ?

Sound advantage aside, I would be curious to see before and after dyno's on the BRZ exhaust.

BRZ exhaust replaces the 2nd, unmonitored cat and resonators with a single, small muffler. The gains won't be huge with any system so I'd rather just go for the one that sound the best, else you're kinda cutting your nose to spite your face.

Thanks Sav. Agreed, sound is very important and I am not looking for much more power yet but I would like to run the most optimal system.

I assume this system does not replace the over pipe

It does not.

Front, mid and muffler.

@sav that diagram is the stock exhaust and not the BRZ replacement ..?

Never said it was. Showing what gets replaced.

I can see how it could lead to confusion though.

has anyone noticed a difference in fuel consumption since installed the BRZ exhaust.
I'm averaging 11.6 at the moment since install and i'm wondering if my driving style has changed or if the exhaust somehow affects fuel consumption?

Ryan86 12-10-2013 03:54 AM

Ouch, 11.6
I average 7.6 normal and 9.5 pushing it.

Driving style. My cons is still the same.

In my limited knowledge on this, the only way an exhaust can have that much of an impact is if the 02 sensors got messed up somehow during the install and the car is running very rich. However, someone can keep me honest on whether the mid section of the 86/BRZ does indeed have a "monitored" sensor for it to have this much of an impact.

sav 12-10-2013 06:11 AM

Nope, not monitored. I'm 99.9999% sure it's driving style. If I remember correctly my cons went up a bit then settled to where it was before once I got "used" to it.

Vladror 12-10-2013 08:11 AM

funnily enough i actually thought i was driving more economically cause i'm keeping the revs lower just to hear that rumble...
but it's probably the increase in summer traffic that's killing the economy as i haven't gotten any long drives in on the highway...
