I think I'll keep my 2011 STi. This one looks too much like a Honda Civic with Legacy headlights & front

mrdanyo 11-14-2013 07:21 PM

Looks seriously ugly actually...

BRZer86 11-14-2013 07:21 PM

I'll reserve final judgment until I see it in person, coated with WRB. I've had my BRZ for almost 3 months and I've been having second thoughts on keeping this car for a good while. Its nice to have a 4 door to where you can put people in the back, take nice road trips, and recline the seats comfortably. Don't get me wrong, I love love love love my BRZ but if the opportunity came to get a 4 door I don't think I will hesitate.

It's unfortunate that there aren't any 4 door cars out there.

Its inevitable, there has to be that one smart ass in every thread.

Let me break it down......There is not a 4 door car that has the same curb appeal, driving dynamics, etc. that is as fun to drive as the BRZ. If the WRX is anywhere near as fun to drive as the BRZ then sign me up.

Then you should've said so? Nobody is trying to be a smart-ass, you just did a poor job at conveying yourself.

It's an ugly duckling that will likely weigh more than ever before.

nope nope nope

My thought exactly... looks very Civic-ish

Unlikely. It will probably drop 1-2 hundred pounds.

Every time Subaru announces a new WRX the replies are always the same that we see here. I hated the hawkeye and then after a few years I liked it, I didn't really care for the 3rd gen and it it grew on me. In the case of this car, I like the way it looks as it is, and this is the first WRX we get that is actually all new, from top to bottom. I'm excited to see what they did with it, specially how it drives. Hopefully this new engine is easier to make power out of, we get a 6 speed on the wrx, and more reasonable fuel efficiency.

wallace03 11-14-2013 08:53 PM

Car companies should really do polls for car designs, especially for a car that is aimed at car enthusiasts. We are the ones that will be purchasing the car after all. I wonder how long they go before remodeling like the 2009 wrx before it went to the wide body.

SirBrass 11-14-2013 08:57 PM

Makes my 2013 STI look like a damn supermodel in comparison.

mwjcyber 11-14-2013 09:01 PM

:barf:

Looks like they started a new WRX up front, gave up after the quarter panel, and attached a Civic instead.

chas3wba0 11-14-2013 09:14 PM

Wheelbase is too short, and front fender is also too tall above the wheel. Yea I know, because AWD, but it makes the car look chubby

mmkibler 11-14-2013 09:22 PM

This is one reason I just bought the 2014 WRX, the 2015 just doesn't work. I also didn't want the new problems..like having to replace the ECU on my BRZ. Lov'n my BRZ and WRX! Don't fix what isn't broken...listen to what buyers want Don't get me wrong, BRZ/FRS are the best thing that could happen to sports cars! Just work out the bugs before building.

dsgerbc 11-14-2013 09:38 PM

Meh, everyone likes what they just bought. I like my wife's '12 Impreza, so I think this will look decent in the flesh. Especially in that tasty lightning red, or the new crystal white.

hanabie 11-14-2013 09:49 PM

that car is crying for new wheels and exhaust. I don't know it looks so ugly to me inside and out.

Mr.Jay 11-14-2013 09:59 PM

Its like they are trying to sell more brz hahaha

irucremmi 11-14-2013 10:00 PM

I don't know, the more I look at it the more it's growing on me. I think that's how wrx usually works...

QFT

rcm47 11-14-2013 10:09 PM

It's really grown on me since the first teaser the other day. The development video where it was running test with the brz really opened up my eyes to its potential. It's going to be be the best WRX yet, performance wise.

Eh, not for me; and I LIKED the looks of my 08 WRX and 13 STI.

I sincerely apologize. Let's start critiquing every post on the forum. Next time your smart ass comment to yourself.

Are you like 12 or something? Dude, chill out. There's more to life man.

BRZNutt 11-14-2013 11:32 PM

The BRZ and WRX are two completely different animals that offer two completely different driving experiences. I don't see them as competition to each other. I'd personally like to own both if I could afford it. As far as the new WRX over its predecessors, I like the look of the exterior and the interior appears to be more upscale than the current gen. Will be interesting to see one in the flesh...

NickFRS 11-15-2013 12:10 AM

Just got the wife a silver 2014 WRX. It's faster then my Charged FRS.... Doesn't handle nearly as good. Stock boost on a 2014 wrx is 14lb's. Looks like to get more power they opened up the exhaust, cranked the boost up, and gave it a bigger intercooler..... A 2014 WRX will make 300WHP 330WTQ with a turbo back exhaust, intake, EBC, and tune..... Slightly more with a intercooler upgrade. This model wont make near that much on 20lb's of boost. I'll tell you that right now. But this is why we got her the 14 hatch. Glad to see her car will be more of a collectors item now that they are not making hatch's for 15.

Those bigger brakes n 6 speed are a nice upgrade with stiffer spring rates though. I wouldn't be sold until I see how much the new WRX weighs and it's price point compared to the 2014 WRX.

GNS 11-15-2013 12:42 AM

Looks like complete ass. Why is this even being compared to the BRZ?

sprintertrueno86 11-15-2013 01:13 AM

Looks nothing like the concept. Not even close. It's not even that ugly...just bland and generic looking, especially from the sides. All I see is a red current Gen Civic Si with a Subaru front and rear.

CyberFormula 11-15-2013 01:23 AM

I think it looks good, especially the photo of that STI one in blue I saw floating on the internet.

Just get rid of the shark fin, and throw the STI wing on, and I really think it looks rugged and muscular.

http://jalopnik.com/the-2015-subaru-...s-r-1463587006

I just think they need to rid of the fog lights, and make it a brake duct.

The only fog lights that seem to be nice are the ones that are HUGE like in the old WRX

hiroanz 11-15-2013 03:20 AM

Dame you Subaru, why can't you make the WRX sleek and beautiful like your completion such as the GTI, Evo, Civic Si... oh wait.. never mind...

ashtray 11-15-2013 03:22 AM

So glad I bought my BRZ last year, and didnt hold out and wait for the WRX. Very disappointed. Think I'll keep my '03 WRX wagon that I've owned for 11 years.

Very disappointed the new WRX we've been waiting years for is just a tarted up Impreza (was promised it would no longer be based on the Impreza), and there's no wagon/hatch option. What the heck Subaru?

I'd rock this if they make it!

Levi 11-15-2013 04:52 AM

Hoping the see a great engine. 0-100 km/h in 5.4 is bad. Needs to be under 4.8 sec. For 40K you can get a 306 PS M135i Hatch.

YW-Slayer 11-15-2013 05:09 AM

I think this looks great. I love the BL-gen Legacy headlights (although I'm biased as I have one). I never got on with the Alfa-grille version or the bulbous current-gen model. I'll wait until the STI and the 2015 Legacy are out before considering what to replace the BL with.
