Now that we have some good pictures I think it's fine, but how they could drop the hatch is perplexing. VW may as well drop the hatch for the GTI, it's that relevant to the brand IMHO. I would not have purchased mine if it didn't come in a hatch (for my dogs).

I also agree with those that believe they should have pushed performance to the next level. They are in fact going the way of Honda, probably won't be too many years and they will drop the BRZ and ignore enthusiasts all together. We offer these companies entrance into the market and then they drop us on our heads when they can garner the attention of the less demanding masses.

Profit is to be made by doing nothing well, and having customers that are too dull to know the difference.

Hold onto your cars, change is coming. I'm going to go work on my E30 now...

What in Woden's name were they thinking at Subaru.

Earlier at Subaru HQs; "Okay okay guys, let make a Civic Si clone with a Corolla side profile and put the same boring dash in as all the previous imprezas, Crosstreks, etc. but! but! We will put some LED daytime running lights, and a flat bottom steering wheel and that my friends will draw them ALL IN."

WTF! WTF! WHY!

:suicide:

It definitely needs to look more aggressive. The looks of the 2015 model don't scream "Subaru" to me except for the Pleiades badges. Subarus have this distinctive look, especially the performance compacts (WRXs and STIs), and this doesn't have it. It seems it has all the proper "guts" to make it a proper WRX (except the crappy trans choices... give us a rod-linkage trans, Subaru!), but it looks too tame. Not "tame" as in "sleeper", but tame as in "bleh! looks as ugly as everything ELSE out there!"

The GD chassis WRX/STIs were the real lookers for values of WRX/STI. They need to get back to that, or actually attempt to get close to the looks of the concept instead of not even coming within shouting distance.

Meh, I suppose it does look better in motion, esp. drifting around on the dirt

Let's be honest though - drifting around in the dirt is what a WRX is meant to do

I must say that the suspension upgrades on this new model seem very impressive. I have a feeling it's going to be a real monster on the track and can't imagine what wil be in store for the STI. The better breathing probably helps it sound better too. I dunno, it's not bad, maybe I jumped the gun.

Meh, that video did nothing for me.

I actually like this car. I do not think Subaru pulled a fast one on us. I fell in love with the concept last year in NY Auto Show and already was aware that they are not going to give us the headlights, tires, rims and drop in the production version. The car looks very much like the concept as long as we get better rims & tires with a drop. A simple lip kit will make a huge difference in its looks. Most of us are going to do that anyway.

The negative reviews are coming from that stupid low-resolution picture of a red base model car. Just wait until you see it in person and it should meet our expectations. The six speed manual on the STI version will give us plenty of options on upgrading power. This thing will be a monster once it gets into the hands of our performance and tuning shops.

I cant get over the altima coupe tail lights and how tacky the "diffusor" looks on the back.

Seems like Subaru accomplished their goal perfectly. They are appealing to the greater masses which I can't 100% blame then for doing, as a business. Seems like many people that dig the new WRX haven't been around Subaru for long time and the people who are up in arms with it have had an extensive history with them. Just in general terms.

I don't think it looks bad by any means but there doesn't seem to be that something special that is usually what makes you fall in love with it. I love my BRZ because it is different, unique and different from others in the road. I felt the same about my 05 STi. It was so ridiculous, it made me fall in love with it. This WRX is missing those unique qualities for me to give that special feeling.

Tough to blame them. Only way to grow a company is to gain new customers. Not just retain people that have bought your cars for the last ~15 years. To me, it just raises the value of that 05 STi that I am searching for now again ;)

Good luck. Finding one that hasn't been molested (aka "tastefully modded") or extensively tracked is virtually impossible. Especially if you want it for sane money.
