ProCharger I-1

Has anyone considered building a SC system based on one of these? Looks like it combines the efficiency of a centrifugal SC with a drive that allows full boost at low rpm. You can even control the shape of the boost curve.

Nobody thinks this is neat? :)

It's cool, but would be tough to build for our application since there isn't any support.

Yeah I hear you - just thought I'd put it out there to see what you all thought. It's something I've thought about for years now, centrifugal supercharger with a variable transmission. Lots of low end power, high efficiency, none of the heat/exhaust plumbing a turbo needs. I'm surprised no one has released something like this before - which tells me perhaps there are some hidden downsides (maybe transmission reliability). I think it's a pretty new kit so maybe down the road support for the fa20 will come.

yet another new product with a lower case "i" in its name

but on a more serious note that looks like a pretty big part, could be hard to fit

Let procharger come to the game but I doubt it.

So tough that everyone else has managed it fairly easily.

Then build us a kit if it's that's easy!

They are pretty expensive just for the head unit ~2700 no other parts, tuner kits around 5K

Yah I see they're installing it on motors with some room in the engine bays - that said if you get rid of the stock air box there's a good bit of room up front on our motors. I also see that it's expensive, not an entry level kit, but it comes with some shiny fancy electronics to play with and they say it's good up to 900 flywheel hp. And just look at that boost curve :burnrubber: It has a bit of ramp-up, I assume that's when the transmission is spooling it up, but then boost is flat till redline. I for one would like to see what one of these could do on an FA20!

I think they're even more expensive than that - around 8 grand for the full stage 2 kit with the variable transmission. Still, that kit looks like it can produce some big numbers. For the high horsepower freaks looking for big torque, might be attractive.

So basically it's a Centrifugal Supercharger with a CVT built in? (or a Supercharger with Multiple Personality Disorder, your choice) This will be an interesting item to watch, regardless of the price.

Yup that's it - looks like it also has some fancy electronics to control the CVT. I think you can control the boost curve as you like, not sure of the degree of control - it would be neat to have a graded boost curves for 1st and 2nd gears for high power setups.

I did it.

I just stumbled upon this thread, but I did this setup in 2013. Here is a picture of the engine bay. I'm using the P1SC ProCharger unit. http://i.imgur.com/AlzMwYi.jpg
