I'm torn, local Scion dealership needs to get it's act together...

As bad as I want this car, I need to fight the urge to buy the 2014 Camaro! I have been wanting this car for awhile now and have been upset on how long it's taking the local dealerships to get in the 2014 models. And it does bother me that they keep insisting to sell me a 2013 instead. I was sold on waiting until i read the BASE model Camaro specs... Standard Nav, remote start, HUD windshield information, 324hp, etc... ALL for $23,000!!! I'm going to wait a little while longer for my local dealership to get these cars in, but it will be hard. I'm loyal to foreign car makers so that's keeping me around some.

Just tell em up front with due date.

If you cannot get me 2014 model by "due date" then, I'll use my money on buying 2014 Camaro instead.

If they can't get it by the due date then, just buy Camaro

Loyal foreign car maker <3 Is there a possibility you can go to another dealership and hope that they have a better chance of getting a 2014 model? If not then test the Camaro out and buy it then.

You do realize there's little to no difference between the 13 and 14 right?
Save yourself some money and buy the 2013, unless you really want a camaro....

I can't see how you can get a Camaro base model for $23k with what you listed. None of that is standard on a 1LS, 2LS, etc. Just check out this link.....

You can, it just doesn't come easy. The C6 Corvette was on Heavy discount just last month for inventory clearance, they were being sold for 35k plus taxex and title (Base)....that is without GM Card discount.

I find it so odd that these cars are being cross shopped. I think you might be better off just getting the camaro, less possibility of let down since your first priority is not light weight handling.

Maybe you can share what your priorities in your car purchasing are.

Oh I see that now!!! Wow! Those features does skyrocket the price. Thanks for highlighting that information.

I too question the comparison, after driving a Mustang and FRS back to back there was zero question which one I wanted, price wasn't even a consideration, I'd imagine the Camaro would be in the same boat.

If you want power there is no replacement for the displacement available in American muscle.
If you want lightweight handling the FRS and Miata are unmatched today.

This doesn't seem like a torn situation...

bkblitzed 11-12-2013 04:36 PM

i dont think you'll like how the frs is gonna drive being so under powered.

I'm currently driving a 2006 scion tC... the FR-S will feel like a Lambo to me by comparison. Lol, if anything I'm just looking for best bang for my buck under $30,000.

Yes, but best bang for the buck at what?

Best bang for the buck straight line = mustang, camaro, sti, evo, etc...
Best bang for the buck track times = mustang, sti, evo, etc...
Best bang for the buck handling = twins, miata, etc..
Best bang for the buck dd = gti, st, etc...
Best bang for the buck people hauler = van

Need to set up some guidelines of what you are looking for before you can just say bang for the buck. Depending on your priorities the best bang for the buck car can differ drastically.

My priorities went best bang for the buck under $60k:
fun > handling > dd

Car choices came to be:
cayman > twins > bmw 1/2 series > bmw m3/m4 > bmw 3/4 series

A buddy of mine has a v6 camaro. I drove it once and didn't like it. Too many blind spots.
For that reason alone I removed the Camaro from my shopping list.
