Traction Control Light Constantly On

It's a bad pic but what's the deal? Traction control doesn't work when it's on. I comes on for a long period of time, then goes off, then comes back on for 100 or so miles.
What's wrong?

Well, it could be several things.

When you say the "traction control doesn't work when it's on", do you mean the "light" doesn't come on when the button is punched or the traction isn't being controlled?

You might consider disconnecting the battery for a spell, to see if it straightens up.

Maybe the switch is sticking ....spill anything on it lately ..??

Maybe take it back to the dealer, if it's still under warranty ..... just don't let them look under the hood .....http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/woot.gif

I was going to say just bring it to dealer but after seeing your mods list perhaps you may not want to or they may put blame in the mods.

Either way does this car have a road speed sensor? It may be that. I would see if you can get the codes scanned cause it should throw a code. It should atleast on a high end scanner like snap on.

You could always catch a mechanic at the dealer and throw him a few dollars to scan it and throw you a bone. I've done that in the past. Cash is king :)

Well if it's not hindering it.....it's just a light. If it's running like crap something is wrong...that's all I got

He is throwing a code. It's the other blurry yellow light on the dash.

I saw that. I figured with the other modifications it may not actually be related to the traction. He should pull the codes for sure.

Yeah I posted this before I looked closely at his signature and saw his mods list.

hmmm mine just started doing the same thing and the only mods i have are intake and pulley.

CEL + VCS light on = go to the dealer/Autozone/Advance Auto and get the code read. Search it. Come to the conclusion that your engine is now broken and you will need to replace it.

DO you have aftermarket brakes?
DO you have a Hub convesion?
Do you have aftermarket wheels, if so what size, and what tire size?
Have you checked your abs sensors and wiring in the fender wells?

Hotlava86 11-20-2013 11:27 AM

I can almost guarantee its the wheel speed sensor, buddy of mine smashed up a curb pretty bad broke a wheel and tire, the speed sensor flipped out and threw an error. unfortunately for you in the situation he HAD to have the dealership pull up his car on the computer system and reset the sensor...unplugging the battery did nothing for him. he would drive for about 10 minutes and the light would come on, once he turned the car off the light would go through its cycle again. BUT this is just my 2 cents

Thorpedo 11-20-2013 11:32 AM

I've never understood why people post things like this without checking the codes first.... Anyone can get a basic reader now for ~20$ that will get you started.

Do you just feel extra blingy and feel like showing off?

Wow mang, dats niiiiiiice.

Cal3000 11-25-2013 09:34 PM

It is a C1201 code that was detected from my ECUtek software. Sorry I didn't post it before. It comes on for about 50 miles, then it shuts off. When the light is on, the traction control does not work. Then comes back on like 500 miles later. Stays on for 50 miles and shuts off again.

Everything on my car is stock besides the engine mods.
