What do you put in the trunk for Weights?
 

So winter is here again and first time driving a RWD. What do you guys put in the trunk? Any good ideas where it's not visible and just lay 'em where the spare is? How heavy should the weights be?

My first winter season with a light rwd car.

I was thinking of putting some of my left over bench weights. I have two 25lbs plates. Thinking of putting them in the trunk for the winter season. Would that be enough??

Don't bother, this car handles well in the snow. Keep the traction control on and be careful around deep spots and you'll be fine. Adding weight to the back just makes it more work to recover from a slide IMO.

Skip weights. They tend to become projectiles in case of sudden deceleration. Add winter tires.

I was thinking of putting something under the bed liner where the spare is. Thought it would avoid anything rolling around the trunk. I already winter tires but I think it needs weights. Any more opinions?

I use dead bodies.
Didn't actually need any last winter and was my first RWD car that I drove in Ontario Winter.

Two 80 pound bags of concrete from Home Depot. Or do as another poster mentioned and invest in some good winter tires on steel rims...

I was thinking of a bag of kitty litter that I could use insteady of sand if needed.

Ya gotta be kidding. This is one of the best handling chassis available. You don need no stinkin waits. Just get in er an drive.

Try with traction control completely off and you'll soon see I'm right.

I heard of one guy that put lead shot (two bags I think ) in the spare tire, but, I had nothing last year (other than winter tires of course) and had no major issues. Just listen to your car and it will tell you everything of what is going on. The chassis is very communicative and with the pivot point right at your hips, you'll feel what the car is doing at all times. After that, just let it guide your inputs. Just remember - don't over-correct.
