I think that's the solution-- don't slobber so much on the threads can't grab, but just enough you can't get rust / chemical seizure between the metals.


There are numbers for how much you should decrease torque for a "oiled" fastener-- it's about 25%.


I use 70 ft-lbs and sparingly anti-seized lug nuts.

This makes a lot of sense- and explains why I have never had a fastener on which I had applied anti-seize come loose.


The owner's manual says to not use OIL or GREASE on the threads. Anti-seize is not on the list.
