Done modding until its lowered...anyone else in the same boat?
So with foglights and the j2 catless front pipe in the mail I'm officially done modding anything until this thing is lower. Gone through 2 axlebacks I wasn't happy with so its just gunna be the j2 for now, I'm done hunting for sound for awhile. I'm 90% sure the drop will be the Eibach Sportlines, I see no downsides. Anyone else at a modding standstill until its lowered?

I knew coming into owning this car, the first things I wanted to do was suspension and wheels. That's out of the way. I've thrown tom's tails and toyota emblems on the car and have a TRD spoiler about to go on and JDM clears on the way.
I'm at a modding standstill until FI aside from maybe a WC lathe shift knob. lol. iirc, the sportlines offer a 1.4" inch drop, which is lower than most of the springs offerings I've seen. |
That was most of my modding. The car is pretty spot on for what I use it for…I just didn't like the height. Even lowered, the car is pretty much done modding for awhile.

Springs were one of the first things I purchased since they are so cheap.

My first mods were wheels and tires, then camber bolts, then springs, then another set of camber bolts, then spacers for clearance for the new camber. After that I started on some power mods. Drop in filter, J2 front pipe, OFT. There is plenty more I'd like to do. It is far from where I'd like it to be. Next things on my list: oil catch can, cat-back, chassis stiffeners, and maybe oil cooler. Tho Id probably put off the oil cooler until spring/summer. After these are done my "stage 1" would be mostly complete. I also know what some of my "stage 2" mods will be, but when and the order which those will be going on the car will depend largely on my budget. "stage 3".... haha it will begin when i get a better paying job.
I'm sure after you put those springs on you will likely be wanting better damping some time after. Unless you don't care about ride quality or suspension performance. |
pretty much same boat as you, and same set up too. 6at asphalt with a k&n drop in (on the way), fogs and lows at 4300k.doing engine mods before lowering and picking wheels (probably after winter) but at least once march hits next year...

Only thing I can suggest in this regards is to decide WHAT wheels you want first and then look at suspension and if they're 100% compatible for fitment wise. I was on Eibach Pro springs, nothing to complain about really in regards to ride, however ONLY reason I went with coils is because of different wheels I wanted to have good fitment with, it was only path. The stock suspension perches up front can conflict with many wheels offsets so just be sure to make your decisions with what you will do for suspension and not get caught with your pants down.

The only thing I've done to mine is a drop in Air Filter, full LED bulb swap and JDM clear side markers. And i refuse to do anything else until I receive my Eibach Multi-Pro R2. I'm planning to get it installed when Spring season hits along with 18x9.5 Gramlights 57Xtreme square wrapped in Michelin PSS.

Im going for as flush as possible wheels since Im not going coils. I hate that extreme poke look unless your fenders are literally sitting on the tires. Don't care price or brand. The 18" XXR 527 chromium black will likely be my birthday present to myself next fall. Springs early next year.
