Motiv Front Pipe/Over Pipe Combo

Hey i just have an axle back GReddy SP Elite Exhaust on but for December I'm looking to get a nice pair of bolt ons like the Motiv FP and OP … I'm not looking to do a tune just yet. Anyone running this setup that has dyne charts or has any that knows what this combo will help gain? i looked and can't find any. i got a quote for $599 shipped so i think its a pretty damn good price. Plus the Front Pipe will have to be Catted to pass the Emissions and Smog Tests =/ Fricken bullshit. Anyway I'm hoping to get a nice Boxer Rumble from this setup and make it sound awesome and some extra Ponies won't hurt nobody

You can expect around 5-7 whp untuned. The overpipe doesn't really do much power wise to be honest. And you will not get boxer rumble with just those two pieces. That sound comes from the header. You would need to switch to an UEL header to truly get that "boxer rumble".

okay so i should just go with a Front Pipe with CAT instead of both ? it would just be a waste of money or will the overripe give a better sound with the Front pipe when combined

Well, I don't want to get into a debate, but personally, I would just get a front pipe and save your money. The overpipes do not make any kind of major power, especially that you will feel. Also, many people have complained about some aftermarket overpipes with fitment issues causing rattles and what not. The sound may increase a bit with an overpipe, but nothing too drastic. The only reason I see changing the overpipe is going force inducted and running more than say 300whp. I would imagine it is a restriction.

x2 here.

I have Motiv Front pipe catless and Nameless 2.5"
actual cat is on header not on front pipe. as long as they don't do visual test, you shouldnt have problem getting inspection passed

Good point. The secondary cat is on the front pipe, but the main one for emissions is on the header itself. You could save even more money and go catless. Ill give you a good deal on one of ours @ScionFR-S:thumbsup:

I think I'll play it safe and get a cat but what about a midpipe that would fit my sp elite axle back ? What could I go with because I'm sure a midpipe would help me gain some hp and some nice sound just want to make sure it's worth the investment and also deliver some nice sound

Sorry my friend, no real gains in midpipes either. The biggest gains are in the header and front pipe coupled with a tune.

So if I have no tune and go with a catless front pipe I will most likely have a cel and not pass emissions ? Idk if they do the inspection non visual like meaning not looking under the engine

I have a Motiv Concept test pipe (no cat no res) w/ no tune and I don't have a CEL.

The front pipe shouldn't throw a code due to the fact there is not an O2 sensor in stream of the secondary cat.

No CEL!

Damn I just really don't wanna fail inspection because of no cat...I'm not building a rice car just want it to look good and sound sexy so I may go with a Perrin front pipe or motiv ... Any differences In the two

IAmNotTheDriftKing 11-09-2013 12:31 AM

I would go with a Motiv frontpipe. The quality is the same as the Perrins but it is a bit cheaper. I have one, and it is excellent!
