Barber Motorsports HPDE - 11/2/2013

My first HPDE ever - ran the novice group. Had a ton of fun and learned a lot from my instructor for the day. Super excited to go back for another. My friend also ran my car in the Intermediate group and was generally very impressed with the chassis even though we were the lowest power car out there.

Edit: Not me driving - this is a friend driving my car in the intermediate class on the same day.

I haven't heard of anyone using Azenis in a long time, how'd you decide on those?

Recommendation from a friend. What is the more popular alternative? BFG Rivals? Tires felt great all day - although I was probably only running them at ~75%. Car got 4 hours of track time in 1 day since it was ran in 2 different groups.

Was that you in the video? If so, that's incredible for your first event ever.

If you are looking for a great all around tire, that has incredible grip in both the try and wet, wear is very good, and quiet; look into the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I'm in love with that tire.

I ran that tire in the rain and in the dry at Barber last month, and it was absolutely amazing in the rain around that track.

Barber is gorgeous; that was my first time at that track and was stunned with the facility and the quality of the track itself.

Here's a video from last month. I think the best lap I got out of the car was a 1:54.

>smbstyle.... A couple friends of mine here in Cent Fla formed Flatout Motorsports in order to host low density HPDE's. They have several weekends at Roebling (next is Feb1) but they are close to adding Barber for 2014. I will be sure to start a thread when registration opens if it comes to be.

Great driving for the first time out there. You ran down a lot of cars that should have been much faster than you. That says something about your courage and your skill.

I should have clarified that was my friend driving my car in the intermediate class on the same day. I didn't post my novice run since it was pretty laid back.

Well the, great driving by your friend. Keep at it and I am sure you will get there one day soon. Pick your friends brain. It looks like he knows what he is doing. Thanks for posting the videos. They were long but entertaining.
