Alignment help needed
 

Hello,

I'm completely in the dark when it comes to the black arts of alignment and so was hoping to get some help / thoughts.

Had my car lowered on springs and they fitted eibach front camber bolts and set the following alignment:-

Rear
Camber left -1.59
Camber right -2.00
Toe left +0.06
Toe right +0.07

Front
Camber left -1.27
Camber right -1.17
Toe left +0.06
Toe right +0.06

Does this seem like a decent alignment? On my previous car when that was aligned they set the toe to 0 so I was a little surprised by the toe setting here but the previous car was ff whereas the '86 is obviously fr so i wonderdd if that was the reason? The cars daily driven and 99% street use in case that helps.

Why did they add toe to your car? Toe-in helps with stability for street driving, but it also slightly accelerates tire wear.

This is perfectly fine for street driving; you don't have any adjustability except for toe from the factory anyways.

Not sure why they set the toe like that to be honest - that was the bit of the alignment I was most confused by but the garage set it was their prefered set up for fast road use. They are a pretty well known tuner over here especially for imprezas. As I said alignment is a bit of a mystery to me though I have to admit so I mostly nodded and smiled :bonk:

Remember that this is a brand new platform. Everyone is learning from scratch here, and what works on one car, doesn't work on another, even if they seem similar, like brand, or suspension type.

Either way, zero out the toe if that's what you prefer. What you have now will work just fine too.

If it's a reasonable setting I may as well leave it as is - it definitely feels pretty decent on the road.

Just for info though - what sort of difference would 0 toe make (apart from improved tyre wear) and would it be best to 0 it all round or leave some toe front or rear? Sorry if these are very basic / obvious questions!

Its probably too small a difference worry about....but you should try to aim for 0 toe...and if anything a tiny bit of toe-in (factory spec is 0.0 front and 0.16 rear) is still better than the slight toe-out which you have.

Drive about for a couple of weeks to let the new springs settle...then take it back for another alignment check.
