My photos are here:
https://picasaweb.google.com/darrendriven/SEMA2013

First 22 are just misc trip stuff... the next 135 are of every single 86 I came across... and then there are over 800 more photos of everything else that I, or Tyler, thought photo-worthy.

Here are my favorite cars at the show... plenty more photos of each in the gallery.

I want to see custom tubular subframes.

Please don't forget to ask the vendors if anybody is planning tubular subframes! I've had this on my mind for awhile :D

Whirlwind of sprinting through the show today... photos added to the gallery!

m.box.design 11-07-2013 09:12 PM

sigh. looks like there aren't going to be any legit lip kits coming out this year. i'll be going Stillen, so @Chen can go TRD-replica. Importing Legit TRD kit is an arm and a leg.

Sitha@ft86club 11-07-2013 10:03 PM

Man where can we get that Australia aero kit and wing shit looks fuckin sexy

Phew im actually thinking about going vertex or grizo now. After you brought up fitment issues. It made me rethink things but TRD isnt out of the question.

Yeah, if you look at advertisements for knock off kits, they're always using photos of actual TRD kitted cars. And most of them who actually have photos of their own parts never give detailed photos of fitment of the pieces ON the car.

Kohei has the Version Select CF trd-rep side skirt (which is probably the most expensive replica) and even the shop had to fix it before painting. Also, the real TRD skirts have gaskets for where it meets the car intended to keep rain/debris out, replicas have this unsightly gap that would allow for water to get in.

As for legit TRD, well, let's just say shipping costs just as much as the part itself. Close to 2 grand when said and done for the full kit.

I'm gonna go 2-tone stillen.

I wish I could go. Plus 1 next year?

BRZPDX 11-11-2013 12:53 PM

I think we should do a trip next year with a group. The FT86 forum meet was fun, but Sema looks way more bad ass! I will be flying in next year though, no more driving through the desert for me lol.

DarrenDriven 11-11-2013 12:57 PM

Going there as a group would be fun, but trying to walk the show as a group would be a disaster. It is SO big that we spent two full days walking briskly and STILL barely saw everything. The last hour on Friday we were basically sprinting. A larger group would have a hard time moving efficiently through the show... but after each day it would be fun to regroup and do something fun.
