Fuel door won't open.
Okay, I tried searching and I looked in the "list of issues/problems thread" and didn't see anything. Kinda bummed about that actually--all of my other problems with this car have been common, which is reassuring.
Anyway, here's the problem: when I pull the lever to open the fuel door, it doesn't open. According to Fuelly I've filled up 53 times, which means the first 50 times I got gas, everything was okay. But three tanks ago, when I pulled the lever, I could hear the linkage, but the door didn't pop open. Right now I need a partner to help me open the door every time I get gas...they stand there tugging on the door while I keep pulling the lever, and eventually it unlatches and they can pull it open. Obviously, this is really annoying---I don't want to have to ask an attendant for help, or bother other customers. I'm not exactly sure what's wrong, it almost seems like when I pull the lever it's not pulling the cable enough to actually unlatch the door. But that's pure speculation. I'm just wondering if anyone knows a simple fix or troubleshooting method that I can do myself...I always feel weird asking for DIY help on a car that's in warranty, but I'd rather do it myself than wasting a lot of time at the stealership. Between this, the window switch, and my newly developed 6th-to-5th grind (which is hardcore), I'll probably end up there eventually anyway :barf: |
Might be a stripped cable. Car isn't under warranty? I believe if u pull the cover in the trunk on the right side u mayb can access the cable and see if its that.

Sounds like a lube problem or a broken/dislodged spring in the latch. I'd bring her in for repair.
Sometimes it can freeze, but I'm pretty sure not where you're located lol. |

You might try a squirt of silicone spray around that little button/plunger inside the gas filler housing. Check to see if the spring clippy thing at the rear inside of the door is not missing or broken. humfrz |
It could just be the tab on the fuel cover. I had this problem initially about every 3rd or 4th time I popped the lid. I was able to bend the tab in the lid just a bit (I believe I bent it out but don't recall for sure as its been well over a year ago) and that resolved the issue. Hasn't done it since.
Your mileage may vary of course. |
