Time for some bad decisions.
 

So I have three options:

1. Save money and pay off my car. Hitch rides to work through the winter.
2. Buy a winter car. No hitching any rides.
3. Continue saving toward my 400 hp turbo build. I'm almost there another 2 grand and I'm set. Hitch rides to work.


The car guy inside of me obviously is for number 3 all the way, but my adult side tells me I'm retarded, which I can live with. What would you do and why?

The hitch rides part is confusing me. Can't you save money, pay off your car, and not hitch rides?

If I just save money I wont have a winter car to drive. So I'll have to hitch rides.

what sort of poll is this? Sriosly get a beater for the winter and save money on the side.

Still not computing. Seems like you could just drive the FR-S. But maybe I just live in Mississippi...

Option 4. Drive the FRS/BRZ to work ect. and pay it off...

I agree. I drove my FRS through the whole winter without any problems. Just drive cautiously. Also save up and pay off your car.

You are also located in a major city. Try driving through ohio during the winter.

Then try hitching rides. I was ok in the snow and I tried to not get out of the house so often. I only drove when I had to go to work, I always got someone to drive and pick me up.

Has the snowplow never been introduced in Ohio? Seriously, as long as the snow is less than 4-6 inches deep (basically, as long as you aren't high-centering on snowdrifts), this car will do fine on a decent set of winter tires. I'd vote to buy a good set of winter tires (preferably narrow, and on 16 inch rims), and then pay off the car faster.

Unless you just don't want to get your new car all salty, I'll betcha with a good set of winter tires and careful driving, you and your car will survive the winter in Dayton.

Hech, I drove for 7 winters in Ohio (including in Columbus), with a RWD car with regular tires (usually half wore out re-treads), no ABS brakes, no VSC or TC or limited slip differential. AND it was up hill BOTH ways!

I drove my FD RX-7 with 400hp in a part of Japan where they plow once a week. I think our little 200hp RWD will be just fine. Don't cheap out on the winter tires and be careful and you will be just fine
