The BRZ/FRS/GT86:
Subaru engine (toyota DI) Aisin Transmission Subaru Frame/suspension Subaru Interior Subaru electronics Toyota exterior Hmm... Sorta sounds like a subaru with some hints of toyota there Mr. Supra. Maybe some more research is in order? Maybe look at your car and see that SUBARU is stamped in it everywhere. The engine design is Subaru through and through, the Suspension and frame is based of other Subaru Products, and even borrows parts. The Interior is based off of other Subaru designs. And Subaru, for the BRZ, designed the headlights, bumper, grill, and foglights. So part of the exterior is from them as well. Sorry to discredit your paragraph of Toyota love ='( |
planning on buying the brz because of the heated seats/mirrors, push button starting, i like the front end and headlights better, and the insurance is slightly lower.
call me a ***** for wanting those features, but i've never bought a car newer than 10 years old before and if i'm going to go through with it, i want features that are actually part of many new cars. |

he's a *****? Well **** a ***** and **** some ******!
EDIT: ************************************************** *** |
Since they're the exact same car (except springs/front look) it all comes down to features and price. Pick the combination of things you want using something like this:

Also, Supra, I know Toyota sports cars make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside (it's easy enough to tell from your name), but the fact of the matter is, this car is made in a Subaru plant, has a Subaru engine on it, and had significant design input (especially aesthetically/aerodynamically) from Toyota. Toyota also contributed significant knowledge related to direct injection. At the end of the day, this car wouldn't exist without both manufacturers, and to deny that that is the case is simply willful ignorance on your part. |
Wanted a WRX for the longest time but the current platform is aging and it shows in the interior. Arguably you wouldn't buy a driver's car in this price range expecting a nice interior but I wanted leather seats (heated is a plus) and the push start is nothing if not cool.
I don't really care for the Scion brand name and rebadging it to a Toyota just didn't sit right with me. If Toyota actually sold the GT86 in the states I might have bought that, but as they don't I vastly prefer the Subaru name. The Subaru it is. |
Okay since I placed an order for 86 (over BRZ), the reasons:
- my reason: front grill on 86 looks much better than the one on BRZ IMO - BRZ one look stiff. Same with the lights -86 GTS with HID look much better. - my partner's reason: She doesn't llike Subaru logo (the stars) - looks like an old car logo she said. I actually tend to agree. Logo wise Toyota one looks nicer. There you have it. |

Yes, I drove both the FR-S and a BRZ before I decided on the FR-S. First, I chose a transmission (6MT) Then I chose (err my wife chose) a color (white). Two dealers, almost side by side, had both models which were white with a MT. I paid cash so, no financing entered the picture. Why did I choose the FR-S .. ?? I just "liked" it better. Just decide what YOU like; ..... buy one and have fun! humfrz |
BRZ was expensive.
I think it really comes down to price and options. If you want leather, cool climate control buttons, and leds then get a BRZ. If you want a simple sports car then get the FRS. Not much of a difference, still nice cars. |
I test drove both.
I bought a BRZ because I got a 2013 BRZ Limited for roughly the same price as an FR-S....and at the Subaru dealership I got my BRZ at...I got 0% financing. But I am not going to say one is better than the other. I prefer the exterior of the FR-S. I prefer the interior and options on the BRZ. Both are great. I have owned 2 4 Runners and 2 MR2...so I like Toyota a lot. I have owned an STI...so I like Subaru. I trust both companies. So for me...it was a local honest Subaru dealership that got me to get the BRZ. but you cant go wrong with either. |
