Buy wheels now or wait?

Just got my BRZ and want to get some wheels on it ASAP. Now the problem I find myself in. Should I go ahead and buy some or wait for some potential holiday "special" deal? I've found some at great prices and I really don't see it getting much better. Someone just brought it up to me tonight and it made sense that there might be seasonal savings. :iono: Any input would be great!

If spending wisely is important to you, then wait. There will be black Friday and cyber Monday sales with most vendors. Recommend finding wheels you like now, and then make a list of vendors to watch.

Good call. I guess I'll wait it out and see what kind of deals are going on at that time. Thanks for the advice!

Also keep checking Craigslist for a potential deal there.

Be patient if money matters to you.

A decent performance gain can be made by replacing the stock tyres with better ones.
The stock 17 x 7 rims are fine for street use.

check the local classified section from sites like nasioc.com. i always see subaru guys trying to sell or trade their wheels on there. RPF1s are plentiful and you'll see used Volks/Works/Advans pop up for pretty spankin deals too.

craigslist is also a good place to start. :)

I'd say buy wheels and lower at the same time, wheels without lowering doesn't look good. If that matters to you

thanks for all the great replies everyone!:thanks:

I think my car looks good on 18s not lowered

It would look better lowered but I think it is 10x better than stock in looks

wait for SEMA 2013!! Then you might have better options to choose.
Or some rich kids get bored and want something new. You can get them used for cheap ;)

Dont buy that word, "holiday special sale". It is marketing gimmick. There is nothing like that unless there is price drop from the manufacturer.

Wheels are not electronics. These vendors are not huge vendors. Most are just drop shippers. I hope you know what I'm saying. They are not cleaning out popular wheels maybe for those non popular ones. They try to get rid them out. Again, they probably only have few sets sitting in the inventory.

You either buy them used or buy new ones when you are ready. I doubt you could find significantly cheaper during Bfday. Good luck.

Yes, lower your car at the same time. It makes huge difference if you want the flush look and no rubbing or poking issues if you are getting aggressive specs.

Last but not least! You will be watching good deals for tires! Yes tirerack and Discounttires might have really good deals on tires during bfday. Tires are expensive... No kidding.

You guys are making this way too complicated.

Find a set of wheels you like? Call your preferred vendor and order a set.

Mount them and enjoy life. Go for a scenic drive with your best friend. Make memories!

A drop and spacers to flush out the stock rims will look 100x better than stock height and aftermarket rims. You could even plastidip the stock rims too which changes their look entirely.

Hit up one of the many great wheel vendors on this site, they will hook you up!

Take your time and do your homework. Wheel size, diameter and offset will determine how flush they sit on your car. There are countless combinations to reference on this forum. You also need to think about the size tires you want to mount since I highly doubt you're remounting the stock garbage tires.
Ideally, the first time you mount the wheels/tires on your car it would be nice to stand back and say "nailed it!"
