Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but yea wish I could see the pictures too. Need this fix in my life, just wanna confirm by the pictures.

Could also buy the Raceseng reverse lockout, or any aftermarket lockout that has the extra o-ring inside it. Dampens the vibrations.

I had a cheap aftermarket aluminum lockout before and the rattle drove me nuts at certain RPMs, changing to oa Raceseng one helped.

heres what i did... i used Allen key to remove screw and pulled out the spring inside with a thin screw driver (i had already grease spring previous to pic). i greased the shit out of it with wheel bearing grease the super thick kind. the first time i pullout spring it was completely dry.

also note that when you grease the spring and thread the screw back in place grease will come out of the holes where the lock out attaches to the shifter when you pull up on the reverse lock out. i just kept pulling up on the lockout until no grease came out.

Is this the OEM shifter?

Sorry to re-up, my STi short shifter rattle definetly comes from the spring. I tried to follow the instructions, but it seems that I dont have the allen key on top.
Anyone has the same shifter and issue and managed to fix it?

If you remove the reverse lockout from the OEM/STI shifter, there is a cable inside that you can grease. Mine was rattling from there, as well as from the washer/pin on the bottom linkage.

So, no spring in the STi short shifter? Mine definetly rattles from the internal of the reverse lockuot. Keep it firm, gently put lever under tension doesn't anything, I just have to keep reverse lockout lifted to stop rattle.
No other way to lubricate it?

If you remove the reverse lockout, and these plastic pieces, you can grease the cable area underneath. I had the same "lift to eliminate rattle" issue as you and this fixed it.

You mean to put grese into those two slots?

If you remove the two white pieces, you can see the reverse lockout cable. You can put grease around the cable to stop the rattling.
