Header Flange Specs?

I'm wondering if anyone has the measurements for the spacing and width of the exhaust port coming from the block. I started CAD'ing headers for fun, but I need these two specs to even get close to finishing.

Thanks,
Kev

That sort of helps if I want to source them, but I still don't know what to search for to find the info I actually want.

Hey I have a set of header flanges at our shop. I'll measure them for you tomorrow. If you want them I'll sell them to you for $40 shipped.

That would be great, and I might take you up on that offer in the distant future. For now, I'm just playing around with my own design.

Anyone?

It's not exact, and I wouldn't use it for any sort of production, but since you seem to be just playing around in CAD for now, this should help. Here some quick/rough measurements from a wrx block and heads.

The center distance between two ports on the same head is about 2.4" and the center distance between opposing ports on each head is about 19.4".

Happy Friday, have fun (let us know if you come up with something revolutionary )!

A start... They are equal length.

They are all pretty close to equal length...except one.

20.302"
19.179"
18.777"
19.081"

From this point, it can easily be a 4-1 or a 4-2-1.

That looks awesome. Now if only we could print the headers...

boredom.is.me 11-11-2013 03:42 AM

Thanks. Haha, I'm sticking with printing micro EDF's.

Great thread! Since your looking at header design, I've always wondered why no one has thought of headers that swing back righ after the ports with the collector behind the engine. We know that the right side has space as the current up pipe is routed through there. Can anyone confirm if the left side ( driver) has similar room.

Great idea. Maybe when I get my exhaust on Wed-Thur, I'll pull off the skid plate again. There is quite a bit of space under there. I'm not sure if there is any space past the subframe (under the fiberglass cover) though.
