What front pipe should I get with Invidia N1

I am planning to purchase an Invidia Ti Tips n1 exhaust at the end of this week, and I have been contemplating if I should get a front pipe? I've been doing research and I am still hesitant. There are a lot of different types of front pipes and I don't know if I should spend the extra $100~$200 to get a more expensive front pipe or stick with a cheap one. ( value for my money)
This is my the first car I am actually modding.

This might sound really noob of me but I was wondering if my display of average mpg will change if I make upgrades, or will it display the same, but change in reality.

Thanks

Well, what's your reason for getting an aftermarket exhaust? There are typically 3 usual reasons people buy them:

1. Sound
2. Flow (increasing horsepower and torque)
3. Weight savings

And there are 2 things I can think of that you'll have to consider: will it be too loud and will it pass inspection? Those will be dependent on your local laws and possibly your taste, as far as the loudness goes.

I'd recommend the Perrin Catted Frontpipe - they've discontinued the production of it but are still available through vendors. This is my first time modding a car as well and I've been doing intensive 'research' before I bought any aftermarket parts.

I shipped the Perrin Frontpipe all the way from US to my country, Malaysia. Worth every cent imo. The finish is great with instructions, extra gaskets and bolts (do youtube/google for better DIY videos though). The flow is definitely better and you can easily feel the increase in torque at lower RPMs. The sound is also slightly louder and more aggressive. It's not night and day but rather effective for such a simple bolt-on mod. I actually weighed this between the Invidia, Motiv Concepts & Nameless and went for Perrin due to their products being highly regarded by everyone in general. Certainly not the cheapest in terms of price but very well made with nicely done welds. If you want to go catless, try the Motiv Concept - those welds and finish are a work of art!

Didn't know Perrin has discontinued their DP. I would have ordered one if it had a resonator.

I do want to stay under the california law if possible but Im not sure if the invidia n1 is illegal. I mostly want aftermarket exhaust for sound and flow.

Sound - a front pipe will increase your chance for rasp, but if it's a good one, it won't be raspy and will likely sound throaty and awesome.

Flow - pretty much any one would be better than stock, as far as I know. I can't name a single one that's been documented to be worse.

Weight - good, because the N1 is a fatty.

Which one would you recommend for sound? that would fit with the n1

You can get an Invidia Front Pipe with a Cat, Resonator, or straight pipe. So you pretty much have all the options you need right there and it's compatible.
AVO also makes a nice Front Pipe that is catted and ceramic coated. The resonated options clean up the sound and rasp while the straight pipe options are for straight performance and loud sound.

A question to add to this thread is what type of front pipe should i get to increase sound?

The loudest ones are the ones without a resonator or cat.
Invidia catless
Agency Power catless
AVO (catless)
Tanabe

To name a few...

I'm speaking from experience, CATTED WITH RESONATOR!! I'm running a catted front pipe with avo over pipe on my UEL and it's crazy loud

whitefrs 10-30-2013 10:59 PM

get the j2 from @JonMotoring

SliverBrz 10-30-2013 11:14 PM

with the n1 i would stay wiht a resonated front pipe, that would keep it quieter cause its naturally one of the louder exhausts out there.
