Similar, but I think of a poser as someone who buys a tricked out car but doesn't know how to drive it. Their equipment might be nice, but they are just posing as someone they're not. Now if a rices out car (cheap, gaudy) has a good driver, we'll I guess that's just a person with bad taste :)

To be honest, it doesn't really matter to me either way. I'm planning on keeping my 10 Series as "clean" as possible, with any cosmetic mods being for function over form (aero/ventilation/weight reduction/etc).

If others want to go overboard on cosmetics, that's their business, not mine.

It's sad that most of the last 7 pages have just been people flaming each other over who's definition of "rice" is the most accurate.

how bad is doing the ricer fly by? i know i do it when people drive like assholes around me. is this a cardinal offense?

I mean, I might think a del sol with a wide body kit and GT wing looks fugly but "rice" is just a derogatory term hillbillies used for Japanese cars. The idea that your clean, well built one doesn't meet that standard doesn't really fly. If someone wants to talk trash, suddenly it's a ricer. That's about as deep as name calling gets.

EDIT: I forgot I was in the depths of the 11th page, so sorry for the thread necro.

I read this entire thread. Why all the argument involving hondas? We all know that the only reason they are so popular with the "ricer" crowd is because they can be had for cheap and they're Japanese. With the exception of the nsx and s2000 they are shite as a performance car, and that includes integras.

There's a nice example of a simple mind at work

they can be fast, they can be fun, they reqire skill to be fast, they have great setups etc. the fact that you think high drag is a bad thing discredits you a whole ton in my book. the frs is a lot closer to a prius than it is an f1 when discussing drag.

Define "high drag"...

Umm anything closer to a Prius compared to an F1 car. Is that your argument, really? 0.27 is pretty low in the sports car world. Check it out. Sure they're fun and can be fast and all that. So is a Razor. That doesn't make it a good sports car. Am I missing something?

You still don't understand. The prius cd is about 0.27 and an f1 has a cd of about 1.0 my argument sounds ubsurd because you don't quite know what makes a car sporty.
