first service... bad experience

took my car in to have the first service... 7000 mile oil change/tire rotation/blah blah
i told the guy i wanted to keep an eye on the car and he was cool with it
they completed everything and it was time to sign, as we were walking to his desk he asked if i wanted my car washed... i refused and he went to tell them, but when i went to pick up my car i found out they washed the car:mad0260: i was so freakin upset. seriously?!? a SMALL SIMPLE request that they ignored!?!? ughhh i step away from the car for a little bit and they fuk up
also heard a exhaust that sounded like my car when i was signing too, there was a few techs that were gathering around my car when it was on the lift, im pretty sure they all wanted to hear the exhaust... i cant prove that tho...

dont go to champion toyota in houston, if u do dont get out of ur car or lose sight of it

Personally I think you're getting too wound up over nothing. Goodluck to the first person to accidentally door ding ya.

I went into my local dealership to get my coolant topped off, and saw one of the porters spot cleaning a customer car with the filthiest rag in the world and a mystery spray bottle. I could almost HEAR the dirt/grime scratching the clearcoat. He had just got done wiping the wheels down.... yes, I would love brake dust in my clearcoat.

I don't even get my complimentary oil changes lol

Same thing happened to me. What's worst is there's a dip in and out of the service area so I scrapped the bottom of my bumper too....I had a good weep while I waited (j/k). I'm still fixing what the wash did (polishing everything out again). This was at Kearny Mesa Toyota. Granted not a huge deal but it is annoying.

Did they at least do a nice job? haha

I get the passion about the car and how many owners are young but never expect any mainstream dealer to treat a 25k car like a specialty vehicle, they don't employ and are not setup for the level of service you expect. However there is a flip side, my last two cars before this were specialty dealerships and would come pick it up from my house on a closed trailer for service and warranty work. Amazing right? Sure was except they always had the car for 2-4 weeks every time.

It's all relative gotta keep that in mind.
If you care about your car this much don't ever go to any high volume mass market dealerships unless you know everyone there.

None of that is as bad as going 7k miles without an oil change.

I would argue that with a good oil you can do 10-15K

TCHawk 10-28-2013 06:55 PM

Oh yeah I forgot I had one mechanic run up at me randomly while I was talking to another mechanic that was taking care of my car shouting "It doesn't have 7K yet!" over and over.

And then I said it's been like 10 months since I've had it and it hasn't been serviced yet and I was told it was 7k or six months whatever came first. He just said "oh" and walked away.

wtf? He wasn't even helping me. I guess he was that concern about it. lol

A discussion for another thread

Just do some quick searching on 10K oil change intervals as well as 15K intervals. Depending on your driving conditions (and oil) you can safely do extended drain intervals with the guidance of an oil analysis IMO
