Kartboy Short Shifter Issues

Two issues im having with my new Kartboy SS kit

-Rattles like all hell. I was hoping this was going to fix the stock rattle issue. In fact it has made things noticibly worse.

-About an inch of side to side play that I dont recall having before. While in gear with the engine off you can use your finger and move the shifter side to side before you can start feeling it engage.

I hear this shifter and the bps shifter are having rattle issues but not sure if the play issue is something else.

Just thought I would vent or someone has a solution.

Interested to see if anybody has found a fix for this as well

Side play existed in the stock shifter as well. You probably just never noticed it.

i am running an extension too so its way more noticeable on my setup now..

Do we have to make a new thread each time? There is side-to-side play in the stock shifter, in gear.

Thinking of adding a large washer to the bushing that the pin goes through. It may help with side to side. Its the rattle that drives me crazy. I wish they would just change the design of the lockout. Yes its cheap to just make a sleeve that slides over the shaft for lockout but you can probably make an entirely different design for a few bucks more.

TWM claims to have a rattle free short shifter. costs a little more but if its as good as they claim it might be worth it

I've been thinking about the TWM as well. It sucks that there aren't many reviews out there for the BRZ one. The EVO guys seem to love their products, but the stock EVO shifter is pretty garbage. Maybe I should just get one to try it out.

The problem with TWM is when this shifter first came out and they posted here in the forums. They took orders on a couple of shifters that weren't even ready as they were still in production, but were not advertised "still in production". So there was some problems with forum members and the vendor regarding refund issues. To make things worse, the vendor was a dink about the whole thing. Needless to say he sealed his own fate and never really got this short shifter off the ground due poor communication and a bad attitude.

The good news is, the shifter is probably great!

This happened quite awhile ago, but this is perfect example that people don't forget when vendors F**K *P, regardless of how great the product is they are selling

Kartboy short shifter

Can you use the stock shift knob on the kartboy short shifter?

Yruyur 01-20-2014 02:29 AM

Yes.

The TWM for the 1st-Gen tC was pretty awesome. Much less moving parts etc but if it helps at all. I wish there some height reduction also, the lack of I'm sure is do to the lockout collar but still. Lowest I had seen is .375".

They must have changed the lock out. It seems so solid and impossible to rattle. I just put mine in last week. It much harder to lift the lockout than stock. I like the shifter. I have the stock knob still.
