Evo 3 greddy exhaust

Can anybody tell me how much louder this exhaust sounds in real life then the stock? Im trying to decide which exhaust is louder but not to loud

GT 86 Brah 10-27-2013 01:58 AM

its pretty loud for a catback and drones really bad... my friend has one.

E403Q 10-27-2013 02:15 AM

how bad is the drone on a scale of 1-10 and at what rpm?

Turgin8er 10-27-2013 02:45 AM

I have it on mine and at about 3000 the drone is probably about a 7.

FRS_Jack 10-27-2013 05:15 AM

2400-3000... drones really bad... vibrates the whole back panel.. but its a deep nice sound... I have learned to live with it...

On the 6MT the drone is between 3-4K, right at highway cruising speed. It's unbearable without the silencers, still bad with them. Keep in mind that sensitivity to drone/resonance is subjective so your mileage may vary. Mine was bad enough that it made my daughter physically ill on drives that lasted more than 10 minutes so I went and replaced it with a Perrin.

The sound volume isn't bad at all, it's definitely one of the louder ones out there, but if you are sensitive to drone, take this off the list. Consider the Perrin 3" system instead.

I had the same concern when looking at the Evo 3. Ended up going with the Perrin 3" and love it, no drone and nice deep note.

With the silencers in, probably one of the best sounding exhausts there is.

AZFA20 10-27-2013 01:42 PM

Love mine. I've since gotten use to mine over the past year. I have the JDL unequal length header now as well and couldnt be happier with the way this exhaust sounds. I haven't even looked at the silencers in so long I don't even know where they are. The only other exhaust I would put on the car thus far is the Perrin 3". The tone of the EVO does change over time and if anything has aged like a fine wine haha. The reast of my exhaust is Motiv overpipe and catted front pipe.

I've seen in another thread that the exhaust really benefits from a front pipe and people have taken away some of the drone with a catted or resonated front pipe.

I had mine installed about 2 weeks ago, ive read about all the droning and loudness but heres first hand of what i thought when i had it installed. It was loud when it was fresh, but as you put more mileage on, it gets more quiet and deep, its the best sounding exhaust that ive heard, its not too loud for my taste and not too quiet. I threw in the silencers to see the difference, you might as well stay stock at that point. You will feel alot more power gain as well esp. if you have an intake. As for droning, i cruise around 3k rpms on the highway, no drone for me at all whatsoever, but as soon as i hit higher than 3k you'll hear it and its pretty bad.

The sensitivity of what you are used to can change how "loud" or how bad the "Drone" is.

If you are looking for a quiet exhaust that doesn't drone then I would persuade you to a different style exhaust.

If you are ok with a little noise and a little drone this exhaust appears to be on the louder side of things.

It really depends on your background of what is loud and how sensitive you are.

Foobar 10-28-2013 07:35 AM

Also keep in mind that loudness and drone do not go hand in hand. You can have a silent exhaust with an annoying drone or a loud exhaust with no drone.

Best bet is to experience it up close and decide in person.
