I'm in love
I just got my 2014 BRZ Limited delivered to my neighborhood thru the "Heuberger Motors underground railroad". I test drove an FRS at Stevens Creek, and for some reason it was totally underwhelming, and left me a little scared about my choice. Undeterred, I committed to buy the BRZ Limited thru Clint.
My God am I glad I did. This car is such a beautifully engineered car it blows my mind. Some people hate on the styling, but man everything is where it should be, and purely functional. Except for the e-brake; it's a little too close to the kidneys for me. :bonk: The engine is plenty powerful for street driving. It's my first 6-speed, and I was pleased even in 6th you can put the pedal down and it goes. Sometimes in these finely geared cars the gas pedal turns into a noise button in 6th gear. The suspension is fantastic too. I wasn't sure how I would like the stiffer struts on a commuter car, but honestly it rides smoother than both my bone stock WRX, as well as both coilover setups I had on it in the past. I'm amazed Toyobaru can pull off such a great ride with the more aggressive damping. Honestly it's so good that I'm probably not going to touch the springs/struts. The steering feels like a manual rack, but without the resistance. It's a damn amazing piece of work for an electric system. I'm still completely blown away by how well the chassis and drivetrain fit together in this car. This thing is going to bring me so much fun over the years, and I'm super excited to call it my baby. YAY! :burnrubber: |
First off, welcome to the community! Glad you are enjoying your car. As a former wrx owner myself (there are surprisingly quite a few of us here :D) I'd agree about the suspension. Although I do miss it (and the utility that comes with a wagon) I always comment to people about how much better the BRZ is stock compared to the rex w/ sti suspension swap.
The tires on the other hand...;) |
Welcome and enjoy your stay :D

The tires are no worse than the old RE92's that came stock on WRX's, LOL!

Welcome from another CO-> CA owner in the Bay Area.

Picked up my 2013 from Clint as well. Most painless buying experience ever.
I completely agree with you on the stock suspension. It's great and doesn't ride too hard. Hopefully I can get some aftermarket wheels in the future that don't require coil overs. |
Welcome and congrats! I was one of the first who bought a BRZ from Heuberger even before Clint came into the picture. Perhaps you read about the whole experience in the CO>CA thread. :)
what you said about the chassis/suspension is dead-on in my mind. I really hesitated before changing out to Eibach springs because I was so convinced that the stock suspension was already at a perfect balance of comfort and performance. Enjoy it in stock form for a while before you do anything. No sense in spending money where you don't perceive a need to. After I changed springs, it took a while for me to get adjusted to the different feel -- as you might expect, you sacrifice a little bit of comfort for a little bit more performance and for the "better" lowered look. |
Congrats Silverpike! I like your avatar BTW.

I would have gotten the Galaxy Blue if they kept it for 2014; that color is super dope in person. |
Congrats!
