I've been off and on with going to the gym for the past 4 years, but Jan 1, 2013, it was my New Year's resolution for a healthier lifestyle. Since then I've lost about 50lbs. I've also got really hooked on going to the gym and lifting. I don't lift that much.. yet, but I'll get there. Lol I finally got to bench the bar and hopefully will be adding some plates next week :happyanim: I hate chest days, but love leg days. Haha I go every morning before work at the 24 hr in automall or union city, and weekends try to do hikes or run trails. Did Warrior Dash a couple weeks ago and will be training for Tough Mudder for next year.

My biggest struggle is my love for food, I love making it and consuming it. But at least now I do pick smarter choices, but still working on my slips here in there.

Way to go MizzKiMi! I missed Warrior Dash this year. A little bummed, but didn't have a choice. I'm also going to Tough Mudder next year. There is a group of us from our gym that like to go together. Such a blast. :party0030:

:) shall we do tough mudder together? maybe we can form a NorCal 86 drive team for that. Mud race is fun, and if we all roll in in an 86s :) that would be so cool!

I signed up this year for Spartan Beast in Monterey but had to drop out due to schedule conflict.
I think upper body will definitely kill me... when i started out training for spartan, i can't even do a push up or burpee @-@

Im sooo lazy about going to the gym it's not funny. I can literally drive myself to the gym, then end up texting on my phone in my car for a hour and then just drive away lol.

So what's a good gym in the bay area? I checked out the UFC gym in Concord, thought it was pretty nice but no swimming pool of course. What about 24 hour fitness? I don't like working out during rush hours times, too many people.

Sick thread, I workout anywhere from 5 - 7 days a week at Citysports on Brokaw. Every once in a while i see a fellow frs/brz there. But never know who it is. I've been working out for a good 5 years now. Did cross country and track for 4 years in high school and got tired of looking so skinny... so during my senior year/ going to college. i began lifting alot. I still do a lot of runs here and there. I'm 5"5 went from 120 to 135 (plateaued) and still trying to gain to be at least 140. Strictly no supplements. Just graduated from SF state and working full time in SF. but still make time to workout almost everyday, no excuses!

ANY FELLOW TOUGH MUDDERS?! I did two so far and will be doing one every year.

Also doing the Mens Health Urbanathalon 11 mile run in SF on Nov 24th

You're either going to be lazy and not click the link or you're going to put a little bit of effort towards your goal.
Click the link. Then go to the gym.

I like the 24 hr supersport gyms. I had Planet fitness before and that was whack. I heard City Sport was good, but I don't like their hours. I like beating the rush and before work so 24 hour fitness works great plus they got tons of locations which works for me since I work in 2 different locations.

@t0mmyd - Im training for my first one, any tips? When I did warrior dash it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I probably should have trained more up hill since that really killed my time.

Yeah, I've had a membership at Planet Fitness before when I lived in Virginia. Hate to sound snobbish but it definitely was not a very motivating environment, not with that stupid alarm that they there.

Haha yeah I think they call that the clunk alarm or something dumb. I thought of getting a membership there because it was cheap but decided to stay where im at.

@MizzKiMi we have one more in for tough mudder :)

So the date is April 12 and 13 in Patterson, CA.

Pick the date and count me in :) I will make it to the finish line, as long as u don't consider time is a factor. :party0030:

I dunno if i'm more concerned about the ice pool or the electric shocks :iono:

@doggieboy09 joining?
@t0mmyd will u help us train?

Aww I actually committed to another team already but we can all meet up/train.
As for the date I'm not sure yet since I think I'm nuts and might do a 5k event the day before. Lol but it's all still up in the air. I definitely need to train more on upper body strength. And since this location will have tons of hills definitely lots of leg work.

If you guys are all up for it I'd definitely be down. I can help anyone train for it too!

My first one was in Socal at Snow Valley in Running Springs

2nd one was in Tahoe Northstar just this July, GREAT course. i actually perfer the tahoe one.

Also careful picking WHEN to do it. there are a lot of water events and they do not care how cold it gets. so i always try to pick an event date where its warm or hot. the ice bath is the most brutal to me. shocking? its ehh... the pain goes away in a second. its the cold water that makes you numb for a bit....

I have a lot i can say about tough mudder. so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

@MizzKiMi Tough mudder will consist on LOTS of hill. i had a friend who did warrior dash after TM and he said it was a joke. so what ever you trained for in Warrior dash. you'll gonna need to do about 3 times that work to breeze through TM. Feel free to ask me anything. I cant really tell you what to work on since i dont really know what youre capable of.
